The new series brings together hoteliers, technology experts and industry leaders to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping hotel distribution, guest experience, commercial strategy and the hospitality workforce.

Artificial intelligence is changing how travellers discover hotels, how hospitality businesses engage with guests and how teams manage their daily operations. Yet as new applications emerge, questions remain about where the technology can create tangible value, how it will reshape established business models and what it means for the people working in the industry.

Against this backdrop, HSMAI Europe launched HSMAI Europe Weekly Conversations on 28 October 2026, a new weekly video podcast exploring the implications of artificial intelligence for hospitality businesses, employees and guests.

Bringing together hoteliers, industry leaders, technology specialists and emerging talent from across Europe, the series will examine the opportunities and challenges associated with AI through practical experiences and open discussions. Its scope extends across revenue optimisation, sales, marketing, distribution, operations, guest experience, leadership and talent development.

Rather than focusing exclusively on technological developments, the initiative aims to address the decisions hospitality professionals face as AI becomes increasingly relevant to commercial strategy and everyday operations. Among the questions it will explore are how hotels can remain visible as AI-powered search changes distribution, where automation can improve the experience for guests and businesses, and which skills hospitality professionals will need as their roles evolve.

Exploring AI Beyond the Technology

The launch reflects a wider set of questions confronting the hospitality sector as artificial intelligence influences both customer behaviour and internal processes. Travellers’ methods of researching and selecting accommodation are changing, while hotels are assessing how emerging tools might support decision-making, improve efficiency and strengthen relationships with guests.

For hospitality businesses, the challenge is not simply whether to adopt AI, but how to integrate it in ways that deliver practical benefits without losing sight of the personal service that remains central to the guest experience.

The podcast will approach these issues through conversations recorded across different European markets, including alongside HSMAI events. By bringing together perspectives from different destinations and professional disciplines, the series aims to connect local experiences with wider industry developments and encourage the exchange of knowledge across borders.

The initiative also builds on HSMAI Europe’s existing work in industry collaboration and education, complementing its professional networks and advisory boards, including the HSMAI Europe AI Advisory Board.

First Episode Examines AI Agents and Hotel Distribution

The inaugural episode features Ben Jost, CEO and Co-founder of TrustYou and Chair of HSMAI Europe’s AI Advisory Board, in conversation with Linda Nordheim, Owner and Managing Director of Maverix and a member of the same board.

Their discussion addresses several questions with growing relevance for hotel operators: what happens when AI agents become part of everyday business operations, how travellers will find and choose hotels in an AI-driven environment, and whether automation can give hotel employees more time to focus on personal service.

Hotel visibility and distribution are among the central themes. As AI changes how information is discovered and processed, hospitality businesses face questions about how their properties will be found, evaluated and selected by prospective guests. At the same time, the increasing use of automation raises questions about how work may change within hotels and how technology can support employees rather than displace the human dimension of hospitality.

The opening conversation introduces the broader perspective of the series: examining AI not as an isolated technological development, but as a force with implications for commercial performance, operational decisions and the relationship between hotels and their guests.

New Episodes Every Wednesday

HSMAI Europe Weekly Conversations will release new episodes every Wednesday on YouTube and Spotify. By establishing a regular format for discussion, HSMAI Europe aims to create an ongoing platform through which hospitality professionals can follow emerging developments, exchange perspectives and consider the practical implications of AI for their businesses and teams.
