Thailand’s business event offering is rapidly expanding with the launch of the riverside True ICONSIAM Hall (12000 sqm space) and Capella Hotel Bangkok soon opening in the capital city. In 2022 the renovated Queen Sirikit National Convention Center will open offering 55,000 sqm of event space. Three 5* hotels and a new special venue (4,700 sqm function space) join the wide range of venues in Bangkok.
TCEB unveiled recent statistics indicating that Thailand’s conventions sector continues to grow with rising numbers of conferences in broader areas such as technologies and startups following trends in the global business. The bureau also reported that Thailand is ranked No. 1 destination in ASEAN for hosting largest numbers of conferences according to a recent international ranking conducted by ICCA. These results underscored Thailand as a leading destination for business events trusted by international associations while TCEB emphasised that the bureau will continue to prompt the Thai industries to host more international conventions.
A new study on global incentive travel, released by SITE, the industry’s only association dedicated exclusively to the sector, shows that incentive travel is the fastest growing element of MICE, with the highest per person spend, distributed amongst the widest spectrum of destination suppliers.
