Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) had successfully organised the 7th Bid Workshop entitled “MyBE Knowledge: Innovative Bid 2021” on 10 – 11 November 2021, targeting industry players who are actively involved in securing business events through lead generation and bidding process.

Attended by over 100 attendees during the two-day virtual programme, the MyBE Knowledge is part of MyCEB’s ongoing efforts to develop the business events industry to upskill themselves in creating a strong winning bid for Malaysia.

“Over the last decade, since the establishment of MyCEB, we have hosted more than 2,600 Business Events in Malaysia. Make no mistake, we cannot be complacent as the post pandemic era bidding will be much more challenging. Therefore, we need to equip ourselves with the right information, data knowledge, market intelligent coupled with the innovative ideas, creativity, solutions, and secret recipe to win” said Mr. Noor Ahmad Hamid, the Chief Operating Officer of MyCEB.

The programme consisted of sharing sessions by two eminent faculty speakers - YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, the Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Medical Centre, and Douglas Archer, the Conference Manager of World Cargo Alliance (WCAworld). Both had direct knowledge of bidding in their respective fields. They shared their vast experiences in the industry from the perspectives of the local host and client, motivating the industry players to win the bid.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah, said, “I am thrilled to share my experience in bidding for Asian Congress of Surgery 2019, and I hope the sharing helps to emulate future bid for Malaysia. As a member of MyCEB’s Kesatria Congress Ambassador Programme, I am pleased to support the MyBE Knowledge: Innovative Bid as bidding is my passion”.

During the programme, the faculty speakers said that it is crucial for the industry players to put emphasis on the significance of identifying Malaysia’s unique selling points, benefit analysis and competitive analysis to boost the delegates arrivals to the country. They also highlighted on how to formulate a winning strategy and do an outstanding pitching to bid for international conferences.

The MyBE Knowledge: Innovative Bid 2021 urged the industry players to broaden their horizons, surpass the limits and start growing the BE industry to a greater level to convince the international companies and organisations that Malaysia is the best destination to host their events. Breaking through the recovery phase, the industry players need to utilise their roles and be diligently involved in future conferences to create connections and pursue more winning possibilities in strengthening the Business Events industry.
