Malaysia's business events industry pulsed with vitality with the official launch of Malaysia Business Events Week 2024 (MBEW2024).

An annual flagship event by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), MBEW2024 was successfully officiated by Dr. Yasmeen binti Yasim, Deputy Secretary-General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

Set against the bustling backdrop of Kuala Lumpur at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, MBEW2024 is themed Business Events and Technology with Sustainability (BEATS). Drawing around 300 local and international delegates on the first day itself, the event will be the focus point for top industry professionals, thought leaders and innovators until 22 August.

“Every year, we look forward to elevating our MBEW as it reflects the country’s business events industry itself – dynamic, driven and responsible. These qualities have shaped this year’s theme, capturing the synergy between business events, technology and sustainability,” said Mohammad Isa Abdul Halim, Director, Meeting & Support Incentives of MyCEB.

He continued, “As our ninth year in the running, this year’s theme signifies the call for integration of sustainable practices with technological advancements in the business events industry. At the end of the week, our main goal is for delegates to take away knowledge and insights on innovation and how can business events better integrate sustainability into our practices. This process can further progress rapidly with collaborations fostered amongst stakeholders, driving positive change and advancing a more sustainable global economy at a quicker pace”.

Delegates at the MBEW2024 will experience a myriad of programmes that are meticulously curated by the Bureau. The event this year includes pivotal initiatives that will steer and determine the future of business events for Malaysia.

MBEW 2024 also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the MyCEB and the Centexs Commercial Services (CCS). This strategic partnership underscores the shared commitment to advancing the business events industry in Malaysia, particularly in enhancing skills development and innovation. The collaboration aims to foster greater synergies between the two organisations, driving growth and establishing Malaysia as a premier destination for business events

Yesterday, the week-long event kicked off with the Asia Convention Alliance Forum (ACAAF2) and EVENTXPO organised by the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS). Exclusively for invited trade partners only, the pre-events involved international members of ACA such as Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), Seoul Tourism Organisation (STO), and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

More programmes will take place for the remaining days that are opened to delegates including expert panel, breakout sessions and bid workshop by MyCEB Invited participants will also be given the opportunity to engage the Department of Standards Malaysia that will be present for a public consultation on Malaysian Standards on Business Events.
