Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) celebrates a major milestone marking one year since its grand opening. As Hong Kong’s largest integrated sports, leisure and entertainment landmark, the Park has, in just twelve months, firmly established its identity as the city’s “Home Venue”.
Since opening on 1 March last year, KTSP has benefited from strong support across the community, the sports sector and event organisers. In its first year alone, it hosted nearly 50 major events, delivering more than 120 international and local sports and entertainment event days. Utilisation rates at Kai Tak Stadium and Kai Tak Arena have reached close to 90%, with a steady pipeline of events filling most available time slots.
Kai Tak Stadium alone has welcomed over 1.9 million attendees, rapidly emerging as a powerful new catalyst for Hong Kong’s sports industry, events economy and tourism growth.
Across its three flagship venues — Kai Tak Stadium, Kai Tak Arena and Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground — together with the bowling centre, outdoor facilities and open spaces, the Park is set to surpass 200 event days from its opening through to the end of this month.
The calendar has featured an impressive spectrum of competitions and programmes, from local to international level, alongside open training sessions by world-class football teams and a variety of community initiatives. Traditional sports such as rugby, volleyball and tennis have shared the stage with emerging disciplines including pickleball and beach kabaddi.
To date, sports activities at the Park have attracted more than 840,000 participants — reinforcing its role not only as an elite venue, but as a living, accessible sports hub.

To commemorate its first anniversary, KTSP hosted a large-scale “Community Sports Day”, inviting nearly 1,500 participants to enjoy complimentary access to eight sports experiences across the precinct.
Residents from Kai Tak and Kowloon City, along with families supported by various NGOs, took part in a vibrant, action-packed celebration. Tennis, beach volleyball, pickleball, climbing, taekwondo, children’s fencing, bowling and mono-inline skating zones transformed the Park into a dynamic sports adventure map.
Sports Ambassadors and elite athletes from the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) joined as guest coaches, interacting closely with children and families, sharing hands-on guidance and personal stories. High-fives, laughter and friendly matches — including participation from the KTSP management team — filled the day with warmth and celebration.
The initiative underscored the Park’s commitment to “Sports for All” and to strengthening community engagement and inclusion. Over the past year, KTSP has made a wide range of indoor and outdoor facilities available for public booking, recording more than 52,000 member visits and nearly 140,000 hours of community sports participation.
A spokesperson for Kai Tak Sports Park said, “Our first anniversary is not only a major milestone for Kai Tak Sports Park, but also a moment of pride for Hong Kong. Over the past year, we witnessed athletes’ determination, outstanding performances from artists, and the unforgettable energy of cheering audiences. Each event has touched and inspired us. As Hong Kong’s largest integrated sports, leisure and entertainment landmark, we are committed to bringing the community together while strengthening Hong Kong’s connection with the Greater Bay Area and the international stage. We will continue to ensure that ‘Hong Kong’s Home Venue’ shines brightly, attracting even more world-class events to the Sports Park. In support of the “Sports + Mega events” strategy, we will work together to further elevate Hong Kong as an even more dazzling “Asia’s Events Capital”.”

Hong Kong, China tennis team former representative Ms. ZHANG Ling added, “Sharing the joy of tennis with so many children and families today was truly wonderful. Seeing kids fully immersed on the court reminded me of the pure magic of sport. Over the past year, we’ve watched athletes give their all on home ground, and the cheers from the stands made every event even more meaningful.”
Hong Kong, China karatedo team former representative Mr. LEE Chun Ho said, “Seeing the Park evolve over the past year into a major sports destination for Hong Kong has been incredibly inspiring. Every time I walk in, I can feel the energy. The professional facilities not only support large-scale events but also make it easier for the public to access different sports, whether they’re beginners or experienced enthusiasts.”
A Kai Tak resident who joined the Community Sports Day shared, “Bringing my children to Kai Tak Sports Park today and trying so many sports together was a rare and memorable experience. The kids didn’t want to leave! Kai Tak Sports Park is not only a venue for major events, but also a true community neighbour that integrates into daily life and serves the public.”

Beyond its major venues, KTSP’s three Kai Tak Mall buildings host leading sports brands, lifestyle retail and approximately 80 dining outlets. To mark the anniversary, more than 100 merchants offered one-day discounts of 10% on selected or all items, drawing significant crowds and reinforcing the Park’s one-stop leisure positioning.
A tenant of Kai Tak Mall said,“The first anniversary celebrations, together with the large-scale concerts and esports events held at the Kai Tak Stadium and Kai Tak Arena, significantly lifted footfall across the entire day. Customer volume was visibly higher from the morning onwards, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the store. Many families participated in Park activities and conveniently visited for dining and shopping. This has provided an excellent opportunity to stimulate consumption.”

Over the past year, KTSP has hosted more than 120 international and local events, firmly placing Hong Kong’s “Home Venue” on the global stage. The impact has extended beyond the Park itself, energising the Kai Tak and Kowloon East districts and contributing to the city’s expanding “mega event economy”.
Looking ahead, the momentum continues with a strong pipeline of major events scheduled for March and April 2026, including the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2026 and a wide range of concerts, festivals and sporting competitions.
Moving forward, KTSP will continue to serve as Hong Kong’s premier platform for world-class sports and entertainment. By strengthening connections across the city, the Greater Bay Area and the international stage, and by further integrating culture, sports and tourism, Kai Tak Sports Park is positioning itself at the heart of Hong Kong’s next vibrant chapter.
