IMPACT Muang Thong Thani is highlighting its campus-wide accessibility ahead of the ISPO 21st World Congress, which will bring the global prosthetics, orthotics and assistive technology community to Bangkok from 22–25 March 2027.
With the global prosthetics, orthotics and assistive technology community set to gather in Bangkok next March, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center is placing accessibility at the centre of its preparations for the ISPO 21st World Congress.
Held under the theme “A World Connected: Advancing Assistive Technologies for Global Equity,” the congress will bring together researchers, clinicians and industry professionals from around the world. Many delegates will themselves navigate the venue using wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs and other mobility aids, making physical accessibility a particularly pertinent consideration for the host venue.
For IMPACT, however, accessibility is presented not as a temporary adaptation for the congress, but as a feature embedded across its 310,000-square-metre campus.
“When ISPO chose IMPACT Forum for its 21st World Congress, they chose a venue where accessibility isn’t an add-on — it’s built into every entrance, every hallway, every hall. For us, that is simply how we build. For Thailand, hosting a congress dedicated to mobility and independence, inside a venue designed around those same principles, is a meaningful alignment of purpose and place,” says Loy Joon How (on the right), General Manager, IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd.
Accessibility across the entire campus
Every entrance across the IMPACT campus is wheelchair accessible and fitted with automatic doors, while stairways are equipped with handrails. Accessible ramps provide entry to every exhibition hall, with designated accessible parking and passenger drop-off areas distributed throughout the complex.
At IMPACT Forum, the dedicated venue for the ISPO congress, accessibility extends across meeting and event spaces, including the Grand Diamond ballroom and Sapphire function rooms.
Elevators connect every level of every building on the campus, enabling guests who cannot use stairs to access all floors. Meeting rooms, exhibition halls and trade show floors are wheelchair accessible, while public restrooms across the venue follow the same standard.
Complimentary wheelchairs are also available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
The venue's accessibility extends beyond its physical infrastructure. IMPACT Muang Thong Thani is directly connected to Bangkok's Pink Line mass transit system, providing step-free public transport access and a connection between the airport, hotels and congress venue.
Designing for everyday use
The scale of IMPACT's operations also means accessibility is framed as an everyday operational requirement rather than a provision reserved for individual events.
The Muang Thong Thani campus hosts more than 1,000 events and over 10 million visitors each year, making the ability to accommodate visitors with different mobility requirements part of the venue's regular operations.
Across the wider campus, IMPACT offers more than 310,000 square metres of purpose-built event space, encompassing IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center (Halls 5–12), IMPACT Challenger (Halls 1–3), IMPACT Arena, IMPACT Forum and The Portal Lifestyle Complex.
The campus also includes on-site accommodation at Novotel Bangkok IMPACT and ibis Bangkok IMPACT, alongside its direct Pink Line connection.
For the ISPO World Congress, this infrastructure will provide the setting for four days focused on advancing technologies intended to improve mobility and independence worldwide. The alignment between the congress's subject matter and the venue's own approach to accessibility is therefore particularly relevant as Bangkok prepares to welcome the international community in March 2027.
