International Astronautical Congress to convene in Jerusalem

More than 3000 members of the international space industry, agencies and academia are expected to converge on Jerusalem for the 66^th annual International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2015 that will take place October 12-16^th.The Israel Space Agency will host the IAC, which serves as their premier international event with a week of intense meetings and deliberations. Significant attention is expected to be paid to discussions focused on the recent discoveries by the New Horizons space probe which photographed Pluto earlier this month.

NASA astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin will visit Israel for the first time to participate in the IAC - forty-six years after he and fellow astronaut Neil Armstrong were the first people to land and walk on the moon on July 20^th and 21^st 1969.

The IAC takes place in a different country every year, allowing participants to learn more about the local industry in the host country, and providing all parties the chance to increase their participation in the world space scene.

About 40 heads of space agencies and astronauts will be amongst the distinguished participants at IAC 2015.  The conference will include over 2,000 professional lectures and poster presentations and a variety of plenary and panel sessions highlight lectures that are aimed at both the professional community and the general public.

The IAC is a professional platform through which over 40 administrative and technical committees support the International Astronautical Federation in its mission to advance knowledge about space and to foster the development of space assets by facilitating global cooperation.
