Already last year, European medical association United European Gastroenterology (UEG) decided to rotate its annual congresses 2014 - 2019 between Vienna and Barcelona. Now UEG, which shoulders the major part of the organisation in-house, has contracted hotel and registration services to Mondial Congress & Events - a PCO who feels at home in both cities.

European medical association United European Gastroenterology made a conscious strategic decision to reduce its number of congress destinations to a mere two between 2014 and 2019, to put the focus fully on the development of a high-quality scientific programme. Referred to as "UEG Week" due to its duration of five days, the congress, which attracts over 14.000 participants each year, has now found its new home for the coming years in Vienna and Barcelona.

Recently, UEG has taken Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) Mondial Congress & Events on board for hotel and registration management. Founded in 1966 in Vienna, Mondial Congress & Events opened an independent PCO office in Barcelona in 2006. The teams in Vienna and Barcelona will merge their expertise for UEG week and contribute to the event's success.

However, not only know-how, but also interpersonal aspects play a large role, according to Stefan Walter, Managing Director of Mondial Congress & Events Vienna. "A local contact, who is familiar with the city in question as well as its culture and who also maintains good existing relations with hotels and other suppliers, is a valuable asset to a congress and can make a noticeable difference."

"UEG Week" is internationally renowned for its willingness to innovate and keeps setting new standards in terms of progressive session formats or technological advancement. Thus, UEG will not only bring financial merit to Vienna and Barcelona, but also plenty of encouragement to push existing benchmarks and broaden horizons.
