Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) recently announced that the city has secured two conferences for the coming years: the 17th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia (SIGGRAPH Asia 2024) from 3 to 6 December 2024, and the PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment) global conference (PRI in Person 2023) from 3 to 5 October 2023.
SIGGRAPH Asia started as an offspring convention of SIGGRAPH - an industry and educational event held in North America every year since 1974. Through the years, the event has become the largest and most influential conference and exhibition in computer graphics and interactive techniques in the Asia Pacific region, with thousands of participants gathering each year.

The conference has been held four times in Japan: Yokohama in 2009, Kobe in 2015, and Tokyo in 2018 and 2021. SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 is expected to attract numerous participants to the Tokyo International Forum (TIF), the capital’s leading conference facility with perfect accessibility and an impressive array of innovative functions.

The excellent organisation of past SIGGRAPH Asia Conferences in Tokyo was instrumental in the bid’s success. In 2018, the record-breaking results of the conference and exhibition were outstanding across the board, with 9,735 participants from 59 countries and regions worldwide and support from 118 exhibitors and sponsors.
The success was followed by SIGGRAPH Asia 2021, marking the first hybrid edition in ACM SIGGRAPH’s history. The event became an outstanding success, given that participation was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The successful bid by Tokyo was also backed up by a strong team effort by the Japanese Bid Committee, the Business Events Team at TCVB, and local sponsors. The financial and in-kind support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) also played a significant role in bringing the distinguished SIGGRAPH Asia Conference back to Tokyo for 2024.

PRI in Person is the world’s leading responsible investment conference, convening over 1,000 delegates each year to learn the latest developments, discuss best practices, and network. It plays a unique role in bringing industry leaders together to share knowledge and effect change. The 2023 conference will be the 15th annual event and the first one held in Asia in seven years and the first time in Japan.

The 2023 conference programme will include experts from PRI signatories, policymakers, and the broader financial community and expects to attract a diverse group of investment industry stakeholders, including asset owners, foundations, investment managers, and service providers. CEOs, CIOs, directors, portfolio managers, and RI/ESG specialists will be among them.

Japan has a long-standing focus which is aligned with PRI’s mission to help create an economically efficient, sustainable global financial system that will reward long-term, responsible investment and benefit the environment and society.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has agreed to provide a generous subsidy as needed through financial and in-kind support for the conference.
