The Hague & Partners Convention Bureau extended a warm welcome to the Ocean Energy Europe Conference & Exhibition (OEE2023), which took place last week at Amare in The Hague.

This significant event, now in its 10th edition, brought together the foremost experts and decision-makers in the field of ocean energy to discuss and advance the industry's role in driving innovation and achieving a sustainable, net-zero future.

Under the theme "Driving Industry Through Innovation," OEE2023 was a pivotal moment for the ocean energy sector. This year's conference delved deep into the strategies and technologies needed to ensure that the sector realises its full industrialisation potential. As the world races towards net-zero emissions, the conference emphasised the importance of innovative ocean energy solutions in securing Europe's competitive advantage on the global stage.

The announcement last year that OEE2023 was coming to The Hague was met with excitement and anticipation following a collaboration between The Dutch Marine Energy Centre (DMEC), the Municipality of The Hague and The Hague & Partners Convention Bureau to secure this event in the "City by the Sea." With a growing reputation as an impact city, The Hague provided the perfect backdrop for OEE2023, offering opportunities to connect with key stakeholders and communities at the forefront of renewable and sustainable energy.

Benjamin Lehner, CEO DMEC said: "Ocean energy enabling clean, reliable and secure supply of electricity will be an important pillar of Europe’s offshore energy transition. It was a great opportunity to have Europe’s most important conference on ocean energy in The Hague. As the main sponsor of this event, Dutch Marine Energy Centre is proud to showcase the large potential of Dutch know-how on offshore renewable energy innovations and its leading role in linking key stakeholders across Europe. This event was made possible through the support of the Municipality of The Hague, the Province of Zuid-Holland and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. An example of how strong collaboration on local, regional, and national level enable the next steps towards a net-zero future."

Rémi Gruet, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe added: “Ocean energy is the next big thing in energy, and the Ocean Energy Europe Conference & Exhibition is the main event of the ocean energy industry globally. Everyone involved in ocean energy, from technology and project developers to policy makers and investors, was in The Hague. We shared news of the latest development in the sector, networked, did business, and showcased what ocean energy can bring to Europe and the world.”

Bas Schot, Head of The Hague & Partners Convention Bureau, concluded, "This event once again demonstrated The Hague’s ability to attract leading conventions and conferences to our city. OEE2023 placed us at the heart of one of the world’s most exciting and important industries, whilst we welcomed the attendees as they made the most of our vibrant and exciting city."
