The 33rd edition of CineEurope, the most important European convention for professionals in the film industry, lands once again in Barcelona with presentations and screenings of new movies from Hollywood and European studios that will premiere in the coming months.
From June 17 to 20, the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), managed by Fira de Barcelona, brings together more than 4,000 exhibitors and distributors from around the world to share and unveil the latest productions, innovations, and technologies for cinemas through screenings, talks, seminars, and a trade show.
Produced by The Film Expo Group, CineEurope is the official convention of the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), the international association representing cinema exhibitors and their national associations from 39 European territories, aiming to promote the cultural, social, and economic value of cinema in Europe and worldwide.
The event, held at the CCIB in Barcelona since 2012, features participation from a dozen international studios, including Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros, Universal Pictures International, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, StudioCanal, Angel Studios, Crunchyroll and Mubi. All of them provide exhibitors with details of new productions through presentations and screenings of films that will be released in cinemas around the world in the coming months.
To host the studio presentations, the CCIB Auditorium Forum has been transformed into a high-quality cinema hall. A large screen measuring 16.95 meters wide by 7.10 meters high, equipped with the pioneering Clarus XC technology from Harkness Screens, has been installed. Additionally, it has been equipped with six Barco RGB laser projectors of up to 4K, two of which are for special 3D projections, with a projection distance of 50 meters. In parallel, 60 K.C.S sound systems have been installed to provide the most impactful sound experience with an immersive Dolby Atmos sound format.
CineEurope will also feature a 7,900 m² trade show, where nearly one hundred leading companies will present the latest technologies in entertainment and cinematic advancements. The program includes conferences and seminars with industry-leading professionals, where current and future trends will be shared in an environment where attendees traveling to Barcelona can establish contacts and commitments with industry associates.
Finally, during the event, the "CineEurope Gold Awards" will be presented to film professionals in recognition of their outstanding dedication and service to the sector. Additionally, awards will be given to the international exhibitor and distributor of the year, as well as the UNIC Achievement Awards, which recognize dedication and service to the European film industry.
