Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is redefining the future of international business events after a year of record-breaking conferences, outstanding client feedback, and growing recognition as one of Australasia’s most forward-thinking convention venues.
Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is a crown-led major anchor project for the regeneration of Christchurch delivered by Crown Infrastructure Delivery Limited and managed by Legends Global. Te Pae Christchurch has capacity to host up to 2,000 delegates for a variety of national and international events. It features world-class purpose-built facilities including a 1,364-seat auditorium, 2,800 square meters of exhibition space and 24 meeting rooms.
As one of New Zealand’s most experienced convention centres, Te Pae Christchurch has spent nearly four years delivering world-class international conferences and events. Supported by one of the country’s most skilled business events teams, the venue has earned a reputation for excellence, innovation, and seamless execution on the global stage.
In 2025, the award-winning centre hosted multiple large-scale international conventions that exceeded delegate expectations and delivered substantial economic, social, and knowledge-sharing benefits to Ōtautahi Christchurch. Organisers and visitors consistently praised the venue’s world-class facilities, flawless event delivery, and the warmth and authenticity of Manaaki o Te Pae — a philosophy embraced by the entire team, delivering hospitality with heart.
“Our international clients say Christchurch feels purpose-built for delegates — a walkable, vibrant and welcoming city that feels safe and is deeply connected to its culture and natural environment,” says General Manager Ross Steele. “Combined with our sustainability-first operating model, it’s a compelling proposition for organisations seeking truly meaningful and impactful event experiences.”
The major international conventions held at Te Pae in 2025 highlighted Christchurch’s strengths in climate resilience, science, innovation, health, and global policy development. Delegates repeatedly noted the centre’s service excellence, the professionalism and depth of experience of its event delivery teams, and the ease of access to the city’s revitalised centre, including its parks and gardens.
Sustainability remains a cornerstone of Te Pae’s operations. The centre recently achieved recertification as a Toitū Net Carbon Zero organisation, reflecting ongoing reductions in operational emissions and adherence to internationally recognised climate standards. Alongside initiatives in environmental performance, waste reduction, and sustainable procurement, Te Pae’s leadership is shaping global event planning, with organisers increasingly placing purpose and environmental responsibility at the forefront of their decisions.
Looking ahead, Te Pae Christchurch is preparing to welcome a robust pipeline of international conventions in 2026 and beyond, supported by new city developments and growing demand for high-impact, culturally rich, and sustainably delivered events.
“Christchurch is emerging as one of the most exciting event destinations in Australasia,” adds Steele. “We’re proud to play a key role in elevating its global reputation and look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.”
