Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre (Suntec Singapore) was recently awarded the UFI 2015 Award during the UFI London Catering Tour in April 2015. As one of three finalists selected to deliver an in-depth presentation on an innovative catering concept, the award recognises Suntec Singapore’s entry – the Dessert Safari – as the most creative catering solution for exhibitions.
The HR Summit is the leading HR event in Asia, attracting over 4,000 HR professionals and leaders annually. Based on feedback from previous years, the organisers wanted to draw conference delegates to the exhibition and improve the circulation of crowds around the hall. The Dessert Safari was created as a solution to increase the engagement between the conference delegates and the exhibition visitors.
Transforming the typical lunch buffet dessert spread into an immersive culinary kaleidoscope, the Dessert Safari encouraged delegates to explore 27 desserts spread across nine strategically positioned stations integrated throughout the exhibition hall. Each station featured three innovative dessert items including live station performances.
With a continuing shift towards Confex events, the Dessert Safari catering concept acts as a catalyst that integrates both components seamlessly. Over 40,000 desserts were served over the two day event that saw delegates willingly work their way through the exhibition, mingling and networking with each other and with the exhibitors.
“We are delighted to have won this award that reflects our commitment to delivering a seamless customised experience for our guests. Excellent food beautifully presented is one of the cornerstones of Suntec’s offerings that we bring to our clients. This is a key part of what makes our events shine and is something close to our hearts. This award is voted upon by UFI members, who represent our peers, clients and partners in the industry and receiving this award is a great recognition. By thinking creatively on how to add value to a client, this has become a hallmark of quality for the exhibition industry.” said Arun Madhok, CEO of Suntec Singapore.
Following the success of the HR Summit, Suntec Singapore has since taken it to the next level with integrated cocktails and champagne bars on the exhibition floor and has seen more demand for themed culinary offerings. What started as a solution for one event has now become a staple of the Centre’s product offering that can be replicated and customised for other events.
