Taipei is the select host city for the 2021 Rotary International Convention (RIC), an annually rotating Rotary International global event. It is expected that 36,000 Rotarians, including over 10,000 global attendees, will join the event. The 2021 RIC will be the largest international convention with the most participants hosted in Taiwan since MEET TAIWAN, the flagship MICE promotion project led by the Taiwanese government, kicked-off. More than TWD8 billion in economic impact is expected to be generated, leading growth in multiple sectors including MICE, public transportation, tourism, and food and beverages.

Supported by government resources, MEET TAIWAN is turning out to be the best strategic partner for winning international convention tenders. MEET TAIWAN and the Taiwan Rotary Club Association jointly managed Taiwan's application and were able to convince Rotary International of the benefits of Taipei, Taiwan, as a host city comparable to Houston America, Hamburg Germany, Hong Kong, and Macau.

“The completion of Nangang Exhibition Hall 2 and over 10 four and five starred hotels located along the MRT Wenhu and Bannan lines were key factors in the success of Taipei becoming host city to the 2021 RIC. Taiwan is considered an eco-friendly and convenient destination for overseas corporate visitors”, according to Walter Yeh, Executive Vice President of TAITRA.

To support the host city bid for Rotary International's 2021 Convention, MEET TAIWAN made tremendous efforts, provided professional strategic consultations, and collected endorsement letters from central and local government administrations for the Taiwan Rotary Club Association. To capitalize on the enormous business opportunities associated with the coming 2021 RIC, MEET TAIWAN will work with travel agencies to offer over 30 custom itineraries for international visitors so they may make the most of their stay in Taiwan.
