As we embark on the 21st century, Shanghai, the economic engine of China, is posed to challenge the established global economic order with its newfound supremacy. As the city where East meets West, Shanghai has developed as a meeting metropolis you can’t do without. If there were hundreds of hotels and venues before, the range of space available for events and meetings has grown rapidly ever since. But what’s new in Shanghai? Let’s find out.
Shanghai Disney Resort
Boasting several “first-evers”, Shanghai Disney Resort officially opened in June, with, for example, the largest Disney castle ever constructed, the Enchanted Storybook Castle. In the Tomorrowland you can also hop onto a glowing two-wheeled cycle for a TRON Lightcycle Power Run, which is one of the fastest coasters ever created for a Disney park. Garden of the Twelve Friends has made its debut too, with Chinese Zodiac symbols reimagined as Disney characters.
Shanghai Tower
Shanghai Tower, eight years in construction, has begun trail operation step by step. Known as the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world, it has becoming a new landmark in Shanghai and a highlight for tourists. It is located in the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone of Pudong, standing proud at 632 meters. As a complex super tall building, Shanghai Tower is subdivided into five main functional areas, housing, among many facilities, 2 five-star hotels, high end retail shops; conference facilities, including sightseeing rooms in upper floors, and a multifunction conference center measuring over 2,000 sqm.
Preferential Policies to Promote Tourism
Since January 30 this year, Shanghai has started the implementation of 144 hours of transit visa free for 51 countries. Over 10,300 foreign passengers benefited from this policy in the following 3 months.
Additionally, tax refund for overseas tourists makes Shanghai more and more attractive for foreign visitors. Shanghai is devoted to optimizing the tax refund process by taking measures such as quick response channel and 24 hours×7days questions and answers.
