Sarawak hosted an exclusive preview of LEGACY360 - Business Events for a Sustainable Future forum, Southeast Asia’s first homegrown forum dedicated to the education, advocacy, and advancement of business event legacies.
LEGACY360 is designed to amplify the conversation around business events as enablers of economic, social, and environmental transformation, making it a focal point for BESarawak’s mission to integrate meaningful legacies into Malaysia’s business events. As Sarawak progresses to become the legacy capital of business events in Malaysia and Borneo by 2030, LEGACY360 is a pivotal platform to drive this vision forward.
The preview, held on 13th January, offered a glimpse into the main event set to take place in September 2025. A teaser of what’s to come was the panel session, Business Events for a Sustainable Future, which featured four distinguished speakers who shared their unique perspectives on the importance of legacy in today’s business world.
Datu Hii Chang Kee, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) and Deputy Chairman of BESarawak shared the Sarawak government’s plans for business events and how legacy practices are supporting government goals. Meanwhile, Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, dives into the final year of the Legacy Impact Master Action Plan 2023-2025.
Datuk Dr M Gandhi, President of the Malaysian Association Of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS) and Founder/Chairman of Bumiati Holdings Sdn Bhd, shared MACEOS’ plans for Malaysia and offered practical insights into how entrepreneurs can balance economic growth and social impact. On the other hand, Jane Vong-Holmes, Senior Manager - Asia of GainingEdge, offered her knowledge on legacies around the world and how talent recruitment and retention is also an important aspect of sustainability.

Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Dr Haji Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Haji Abang Openg, Premier of Sarawak, represented by The Hon. Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak said, “As we move towards becoming the legacy capital of business events in Malaysia and Borneo, LEGACY360 is a vital platform. Our vision is to position LEGACY360 as a globally recognised event.”
“The main forum, scheduled for September 2025, will feature an engaging two-day programme with interactive workshops and dialogues. The forum's highlight will be the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards, which will take place on the second evening to celebrate outstanding contributions to legacy building.”
Meanwhile, Dato Sri Abang Haji Abdul Karim bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chairman of BESarawak stated that “LEGACY360 is about building the future through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to doing better. The bold vision is that business event legacies will lead Sarawak into a new frontier of local and national economic and social development.”
“This is an exciting final year of the Legacy Impact Master Action Plan 2023-2025,” said Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak. “After many years in our legacy journey, what began as a vision to define and shape the impact of business events, has now evolved into a groundbreaking reality. We are very excited to invite business event planners to host an event in Sarawak and try AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System.”
LEGACY360 - Business Events for a Sustainable Future forum was also the platform to recognise nine long-service members of BESarawak, serving between five to fifteen years in the organisation.
