The Event&Conference Division ofItalian Exhibition Group teams up with the Bologna University to bring home a new international conference, this time in the environmental field. In fact, the organisation was awarded to the Palacongressi di Rimini for the 26th Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), a European scientific association that brings together some 1,200 experts, the majority European, who are active in environmental, climate and resource economics.

The Conference will be held from 22 to 25 June 2021. Approximately 800 academics, researchers, scientists, administrators and managers will meet in Rimini to discuss scientific, economic and even financial matters related to environmental issues. The agenda will include circular economy, low carbon transport systems, the decarbonisation of buildings, areas in which IEG and Rimini are already very active with the Ecomondo and Key Energy exhibitions. Among other issues to be addressed, for example, will be the role of climate risks in the appraisal of financial securities (green bonds).

The annual European EAERE Conference, is normally held in June and usually in universities. Rimini, however, was an exceptional choice: with its modern and functional conference venue, the Palacongressi, in fact, convinced the organisers that the vibrant and eco-friendly city in Romagna was preferable to Lisbon.

The EAERE was founded in 1990 and since 2006 has moved its headquarters from Siegen, Germany, to Venice. Every year its associates gather to compare the results of their research and activities. The 2019 European Conference was held in Manchester, in June, the 2018 edition in Göteborg and the previous year in Athens. In 2020 it will be Berlin' turn to host the event. The current president is Carlo Carraro of Italy.

One of the decisive factors in clinching the bid was collaboration with lecturers, Elettra Agliardi (Rimini Campus) and Anastasios Xepapadeas (University of Athens and Campus of Rimini) representing the Faculty of Economics of the University of Bologna, a staunch promoter of the candidacy together with IEG.  The added value of the city of Rimini and its vast accommodation options were also crucial points.

In addition to the 5 international congresses currently scheduled for 2020 at the Palacongressi di Rimini, the number of appointments for 2021 has already risen to two. In addition to the EAERE Conference, the European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition, the most important forum in the field of poultry nutrition in Europe and among the most important in the world.
