The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) launched the Mainland Penang Incentive Brochure aimed at boosting business events for Mainland Penang. The launch was held at Penang International Convention, Cultural & Art Centre (PICCA) @ Butterworth Arena, Penang. The event was graced by the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, The Honourable Yeoh Soon Hin.

The Mainland Incentive Brochure is a significant effort together with the Business Events Consortium established in March 2023 exclusively for Mainland Penang. PCEB had conducted product and site inspections in Mainland Penang early this year to identify potential off-site venues for incentive groups. Upon recognising the potential of these venues, PCEB worked closely with its Mainland industry partners to curate this brochure.

PCEB envisions that the initiative will attract high-value, high-impact events to Penang and bring a positive growth to Mainland Penang. This effort also aims to contribute to the state’s comprehensive economic improvement and drive substantial growth for the business events industry which is in line with the Penang Tourism Master Plan (2021-2030) that seeks balanced development between the Island and Seberang Perai areas.

The brochure showcases Mainland Penang exclusively as an array of unique and unfiltered experiences for the international corporate incentive event planners. The brochure highlights the destination for its popular beautiful attractions, historical landmarks, delectable cuisine, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. It features details on how to get in touch with the "Experience Experts", such as destination management companies, hoteliers, venues, and attractions in Mainland Penang that potential incentive groups can reach out to.

Ashwin Gunasekeran, Chief Executive Officer of PCEB, expressed his gratitude to the Business Events Consortium partners for their invaluable support in the joint effort to accomplish this project. He emphasised the power of teamwork and collaboration in achieving shared goals and calls for continued partnership in future initiatives. He added that PCEB would continue to build ties with both existing and new partners in Mainland Penang to further benefit the industry.

“With PCEB’s mainland incentive brochure effort, I believe we will be able to host international events in Mainland”, quoted The Honourable Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy. He added that the business events industry has always been a vital contributor to the economic growth of a region. Consequently, the industry has the potential to yield many favourable outcomes for the state.
