Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau has signed MoUs with six higher education institutions to strengthen the talent pipeline for Malaysia's Business Events industry through education, industry engagement and career development.
Business Events success depends not only on world-class infrastructure and international connectivity, but also on a steady pipeline of skilled professionals. Recognising this, the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with six leading higher education institutions, creating a long-term framework designed to prepare the next generation of Business Events talent in Malaysia.
Formalised during a signing ceremony at the Olive Tree Hotel Penang, the partnerships were announced alongside the BE Associate programme—PCEB's industry talent development initiative that introduces students to the Business Events sector through practical experience, professional networking and first-hand industry exposure.
The participating institutions include SENTRAL College Penang, DISTED College, INTI International College Penang, SEGi College Penang, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College (Batu Kawan Campus), and Taylor's University (Lakeside Campus).

The collaboration aims to narrow the gap between academic learning and industry practice by providing students with direct access to conferences, forums, workshops, internships and knowledge-sharing opportunities led by Business Events professionals. In addition to experiential learning, the initiative will foster joint programmes focused on talent development, professional capacity building and career preparedness, ensuring graduates develop the practical skills and industry awareness required in an increasingly competitive global market.
As Penang continues to strengthen its position as a leading Business Events destination, investing in future talent has become a strategic priority. Through these partnerships, PCEB is creating clearer pathways into the sector while reinforcing closer collaboration between academia and industry.
The initiative builds on the objectives of the BE Associate programme, which continues to connect students with professionals across the Business Events value chain, offering valuable insight into the breadth of careers available within the industry.
By strengthening these academic partnerships, PCEB expects to improve graduate employability, raise awareness of professional standards within the sector and support the long-term resilience and competitiveness of both Penang and Malaysia's Business Events industry.
