Adelaide Convention Centre starts 2018 with new leadership team following the promotion of Simon Burgess to General Manager and Erryn Dryga to Senior Sales Manager – Conventions & Exhibitions.
Simon moves into General Manager role following five years as Director – Convention and Exhibition Sales, while Erryn previously worked as a Senior Business Development Manager at the Centre.
Adelaide Convention Centre prepares for a busy 2018, including hosting three of the industry’s most prestigious national events: the Accelerate 2018 MEA National Conference; the Australian Tourism Exchange; and the AuSAE Conference and Exhibition (ACE) 2018 – Ignite Your Thinking.
Adelaide Venue Management is delighted to announce the promotion of Simon Burgess to General Manager, Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC).
A seasoned professional in the international business and hospitality industries, Burgess brings more than 20 years’ experience in management and sales and marketing to his new role. For the past five years, Simon worked as Director - Convention and Exhibition Sales at the ACC. He was instrumental in increasing levels of business to match the new capacity of the ACC throughout its two-stage $397M redevelopment.
Over the years Simon has held a range of senior management roles working in hotels, destination marketing and tour operation where he gained extensive experience in North American, Caribbean, European and Asian markets. Immediately before he joined the ACC, he was Assistant Vice President of Global Sales at Dusit International. In his new position, Simon will be responsible for overseeing the ACC’s business development activities as well as the venue’s day-to-day operations.
“It’s an exciting time for Adelaide,” comments Simon. “We have a great legacy in terms of our new facilities from our recent expansion; this combined with the continued rejuvenation of the Adelaide Riverbank means the city is well-poised to be an even more attractive business events destination moving forward.”
In addition to Simon’s promotion, Erryn Dryga has been promoted from a business development position to Senior Sales Manager - Conventions and Exhibitions. Erryn joined the Adelaide Convention Centre team in 2012 and over the past five years has played a critical role in developing key industry relationships resulting in increased national conference business. Previously, she worked at the SeaLink Travel Group, one of South Australia’s largest tourism operators. In her new role, Erryn will be responsible for driving Asia Pacific and other international conference business in to Adelaide, as well as leading the company’s convention and exhibition sales team as they work to further build national business levels to match the ACC’s expanded capacity.
2018 follows on from a milestone 2017 for the Adelaide Convention Centre, which not only saw the company celebrate its 30th year in business with the completion of its redevelopment, but also play host to Adelaide’s largest ever business event, the International Astronautical Congress. The momentum is set to continue this year with another busy calendar; in the coming months, the ACC will welcome three of the event industry’s most prestigious national events: the Australian Tourism Exchange (15-19 April); the Accelerate 2018 MEA National Conference (6-8 May); and the AuSAE Conference and Exhibition (ACE) 2018 – Ignite your Thinking (28-30 May).
