Organisations that used to prefer large convention centres have also started looking for more special environments and experiences that highlight the culture and characteristics of the destination. With this in mind, the Korea MICE Bureau has been intensively promoting the Korea Unique Venue programme in order to select and update its official portfolio of venues for business and association events.
Korea has also become one of the best MICE destinations in the world. From small meetings to large conferences that book up the cities, South Korea welcomes thousands of corporate travelers every year. Travelers might come for the event, but they stay for the food, nightlife, and culture.
Unique venues in Korea are beautiful backdrops for any international event that will impress visitors. Korea offers a newly selected collection of Korea Unique Venues that will offer an unforgettable experience for any event.
In Korea, you can find the “Korea Unique Venues”, venues where you can feel the unique concept of the MICE host city or enjoy the unique charms that can only be experienced in the region. While not official MICE facilities (convention centre, hotel), these venues allow for hosting MICE events in a unique environment.
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is pursuing various projects to lead Korea’s MICE industry, and since 2018, its special division, Korea MICE Bureau (KMB) has been intensively fostering the Korea Unique Venue programme.
The programme first began with a selection of 20 venues, and since then was expanded to 37 venues. The venues are selected through a rigorous selection process, which evaluates based on suitability, scale, and distinct characteristics.
This year, KMB selected 15 new additional venues for a total of 52 venues. This was the first update in three years and with the new selection, KMB hopes to disperse demand for MICE events currently centred on Seoul and large metropolitan cities to more diverse local regions.
The selection process for the new venues began in February this year with an open call from regional organisations (RTO, CVB) for recommended venues. Throughout the months of May and June, on-site evaluations were conducted with industry professionals, and the final selection of 52 venues was announced in July.
The new selection includes Sky 31 Convention and National Gugak Center in Seoul, P.Ark and BUSAN X the SKY in Busan and more for a total of 15 new venues.
This year, KMB is also offering a new KOREA UNIQUE VENUE Support in 2023 as part of its original Corporate Meetings & Incentives Support. Under the new support programme, corporate meeting & incentive groups including a Korea Unique Venue in the itinerary will be eligible for a duplicate upgrade in addition to the original upgrade options. With the upgrade, visiting groups may select from a wider range of support options, which include admission tickets, souvenirs, experience programmes and more.
