If we look at by the end of November 2015, the city welcomed over 40.000 delegates and almost 45% of the delegates were part of Medical Congresses. One of the important reason of this success is the number of school of medicines. Istanbul is home to 17 faculty of medicine in its 53 universities to name a few; Istanbul University and Marmara University as being the most important universities in this field.

The General Manager of Istanbul CVB, Ozgul Ozkan Yavuz adds:‘The numbers in 2016 seems even higher. Istanbul have already confirmed 47 international congresses for 2016 and figures shows that 40% of the delegates will be part of medical congresses. We are expecting for the figures to be much higher in coming months. We are pleased with the quantity and quality of the medical congresses that we held and will be hosting. Just to name few this year we hosted Association for the Study of the Liver -APASL Meeting with 4.000 delegates, European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation –EBMT with again 4.000 delegates.
