Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is on the move again with seven of Malaysia’s prominent business events players including Business Events Sarawak, Langkawi Development Authority, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, One World Hotel, Sunway Resort and The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa.

This time, the delegation made its way to the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) which was held from 19 to 21 February at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

This year, AIME drew over 350 exhibitors, hosts 400 buyers and is estimated to have clocked in 3,000 visitors with global decision makers convening for business collaborations, leads, knowledge exchange and networking.

“MyCEB is aggressively reinstating the vibrance of the country’s business events industry by being proactive at all fronts. We are looking to push Malaysia as a leading destination for international events. Recognising the potential to generate competitive leads and foster valuable connections, this can be witnessed through our prominent stand location here at AIME which effectively enables us to provide first-hand information on Malaysia’s developments to the international travel trade,” said Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

AIME benefits Malaysia by promoting the destination and its partners to a global audience of business events professionals across digital platforms. The event’s unique matching system facilitates one-on-one appointments with high-quality buyers, fostering meaningful interactions.

The national bureau’s unwavering participation in AIME since 2011 underscores the effectiveness of AIME and the value the platform brings to the Malaysia business events sector. Last year’s participation results attracted a total of 28,580 participants to Malaysia, generating an estimated economic impact (EEI) of RM 445 million. Additionally, the event provides quality international and local media coverage for Malaysia.

Speaking on this year’s strategy for the Bureau, Mr. Azman said that MyCEB will be taking an ambitious and proactive approach in driving the industry forward.

“The strategies underscored by MyCEB are pushing the business events industry ahead with a clear focus. Malaysia stands out as a distinctive destination of choice, thanks to its competitive exchange rate and robust infrastructure offerings. Our strategy aims to capitalise on these strengths, leveraging MyCEB) as the facilitator. Through our support and subvention programs, we intend to maximise the potential of these advantages. While our calendar is already filled, we remain vigilant for further opportunities, and stakeholders can anticipate our participation at major events such as International Conference for Tropical Medicine and Malaria 2024, Enlit Asia 2024, and Battle of The Reds."
