The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has announced that it has successfully secured six major international conferences through competitive bidding in the first half of the year.

These conferences, spanning across the fields of aviation, global health security, evidence-based guidelines, clean-energy technology and women’s health, are set to attract more than 6,150 delegates in 2026 and 2027, generating an estimated RM77.5million (USD18.2million or Euro15.6million) in economic impact for Malaysia.

These conferences not only brings together global experts and thought leaders but also reinforces Malaysia’s reputation as a dynamic and capable host nation for knowledge-rich, high-impact conferences. They will generate significant visitor expenditure across accommodation, dining, transportation and tourism sectors. More importantly, they align closely with Malaysia’s national priorities, including the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which emphasises high-value sectors such as healthcare, green energy and life sciences.

Speaking on this achievement, John Burke, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, said, “Winning these bids is a resounding vote of confidence in Malaysia’s capacity, connectivity and collaborative spirit. Beyond the RM77 million in direct economic contribution, these events will spark new partnerships, accelerate talent development, and showcase our nation’s commitment to driving solutions for aviation safety, global health security, net-zero technology and women’s health.”

These recent wins highlight the Centre’s ongoing commitment to fostering intellectual exchange, advancing professional development, and delivering economic value to the nation. The regional and international conferences include Global Health Security Conference 2026, Energy Tech Summit Asia 2026 and 85th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2027.

“The Centre’s success also reflects the strong synergy between venue, destination and industry partners, particularly in bidding for and hosting large-scale international events. We look forward to working with each organiser to deliver an unforgettable Malaysian experience that inspires repeat visitation and long-term investment,” said John. As the country continues to position itself as a strategic hub for the Asia Pacific region, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre plays a vital role in advancing Malaysia’s visibility on the global stage and contributing meaningfully to its economic and intellectual capital.

As Malaysia’s premier purpose-built venue, the Centre continues to champion sustainable, inclusive and transformative events. Located in the heart of the city and boasting over 34,000sqm of flexible space, the venue’s world-class facilities, sustainability credentials, and professional service delivery are key factors in securing these landmark events.

These bid wins reaffirm the Centre’s role beyond a host venue, playing instead as a key strategic partner in elevating Malaysia’s global presence in the business events sector.

The Centre is Malaysia’s premier award-winning purpose-built venue, owned by KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS); it is managed by Convex Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a joint-venture between KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd and ASM Global.

Located right in the heart of the country’s capital city, and as part of the integrated Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) precinct, the Centre is ideal for large, high-profile conferences, large-scale exhibitions to exclusive private functions. With great accessibility, the five-level purpose-built facility encompasses a total of 34,000 sqm, featuring a wide range of customisable multi-purpose function space including, two auditoria; a Grand Ballroom, Banquet Hall, three Conference Halls, eight Exhibition Halls and 28 meeting rooms; and, supporting facilities such as Hospitality Suites, VVIP Lounges, F&B Outlets, Medical Room, and many more.
