The Jordan Convention Bureau, part of the tourism board’s 2017-2019 strategy, began developing formal partnerships with major players within the past few months leading up to its official launch gaining over 44 industry partners. These partners include some of the most important convention and exhibition centers, hotels, as well as professional service suppliers and agencies in the business.
JTB Managing Director Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat stated “we’re proud to finally have this convention Bureau for Jordan,” he added: ‘’we at JTB are starting a new phase of promotion for international conferences in Jordan, not only because it will result in increasing tourism to the Kingdom but also because it will increase the presence of Jordan in various crucial international industries.”
Dr. Arabiyat also added: “The convention bureau has been in development for quite some time. Its inception was in 2014 where JTB in cooperation with USAID / Siyaha project launched the MICE strategy to increase its level of competitiveness in the global meetings industry. The strategy’s mission has been defined as a need to grow tourism receipts by capitalizing on the globally-competitive MICE industry and its vision is to position Jordan as one of the top destinations within the region. We recognized that a specialized department and team need to be fully dedicated to this project and we launched the bureau.”
The Jordan Tourism Board has also established a National Ambassador program to identify Jordanian thought leaders in key industry sectors and to develop long term partnerships with them. The bureau has begun its cooperation with these Jordanian thought leaders on producing bids for large international conferences in order to showcase Jordan and to strengthen the Kingdom’s presence within the international industry.
