From 5 to 8 November, the Rimini exhibition centre will once again be hosting Ecomondo, the major event in Europe and the Mediterranean basin for the green and circular economy, as part of the objectives of the European Green Pact.

Sustainability and ecological transition have become strategic areas for the competitiveness of companies on national and international markets. Forward-looking companies will be the protagonists at Ecomondo 2024 (Rimini Trade Fair Centre, 5 - 8 November), the event organised by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) and now in its 27th year.

Following last year's record-breaking event, Ecomondo 2024 will once again feature a host of figures and projects, reconfirming its status as the leading international event in Europe and the Mediterranean basin for technologies, services and industrial solutions in the green and circular economy sectors.

A hub for research and innovation, Ecomondo will be a space for sharing and co-designing the policies of the European Green Pact, where experts, decision-makers, entrepreneurs and industry professionals will discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with environmental policy and the transition to a circular economy.

With an increasing focus on internationalisation, delegations from 120 countries and 60 international trade associations are expected to attend, as well as the creation of partnerships with more than 100 specialist foreign journals, this new edition will increasingly be a meeting place for ‘Made in Europe’ best practice and international demand for ecological transition solutions.

The event will also provide a forum for dialogue and discussion on the challenges of sustainability and ‘green’ socio-economic development on the African continent, at the heart of the Italian government's Mattei Plan.

The themes to be addressed at Ecomondo 2024, around which the exhibition area and the rich programme of events and conferences will be developed, are as follows: Big data, artificial intelligence and predictive systems for the ecological transition and managing the effects of climate change; new space economy for environmental monitoring and earth observation; agriculture 4.0 to maximise yields and protect crops; urban mining to recover valuable and critical materials from WEEE.

The six key thematic macro-areas of the new edition are complemented and enriched by: Waste as a Resource, Water Cycle and Blue Economy, Circular and Regenerative Bioeconomy, Bioenergy and Agroecology, Site and Soil Restoration, Environmental Monitoring and Control.

The exhibition space is being renewed and expanded. Thanks to the construction of two new temporary pavilions, the exhibition area will reach 137,000 square metres. Five exhibition zones are dedicated to projects aimed at vertical industries, including the Textile zone, which makes Ecomondo the capital of ethical fashion; the Paper zone, a meeting place for all players in the paper supply chain; and the Blue Economy zone, which aims to minimise negative impacts on the marine ecosystem and promote its resilience and regeneration.

These are complemented by the Innovation Zone, where 30 start-ups are expected in the Start-Up and Scale-Up Zone, and the Green Jobs & Skills project, which will create a space for dialogue between labour supply and demand in the areas of sustainability, training opportunities and guidance. Ecomondo is also paying close attention to the world of Generation Z, with the second edition of the Lorenzo Cagnoni Prize, which will be awarded to the three most innovative start-ups.

Ecomondo is also distinguished by a wide-ranging programme of conferences, seminars and events, coordinated by the 80 members of the Technical Scientific Committee, to explore the main technological, regulatory and commercial innovations in the main sectors of the green economy.

Once again this year, the event will host the General Assembly of the Green Economy, organised by the Foundation for Sustainable Development and promoted by the National Council for the Green Economy, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security.
