International Congress and Convention Association recently announced that its 62nd annual ICCA Congress, scheduled for 12-15 November 2023, will bring the global association meetings industry together in Bangkok, Thailand.

As a leading metropolis of Southeast Asia, Bangkok has extensive expertise in hosting countless international gatherings. It’s a world-renowned tourism and business destination with smart city development, accommodating infrastructure, world-class congress facilities, wide variety of accommodations, and gracious Thai hospitality.

The Congress aims to help reimagine the city’s future together with ICCA and the global business events industry and benefit the local community. The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) will support ICCA in convening a successful, creative, and enjoyable congress in 2023.

“Thailand takes pride in being a longtime active member of ICCA since 1974 and is honoured to host ICCA Congress 2023. As part of ICCA community, Thailand has progressed so far as a meetings destination. Likewise, TCEB has grown from promoting the beautiful destination into shaping the future and value of business events to make a mark in the world. Our Intention for the 2023 ICCA Congress is to co-create an annual congress that rewards every delegate while also supporting all of ICCA’s strategic goals, and at the same time, portraying our vision and capability as a host destination,“ stated Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya (left side), TCEB President.

“The recently pledged Net Zero Carbon Events initiative, for example, is in sync with TCEB’s vision and goal. For us, as a country, Thailand reimagines a future of sustainable development where no one is left behind. As a city, Bangkok reimagines a future as a world metropolis and a centre of knowledge and creativity. As a national convention bureau, TCEB reimagines a future in which business events help foster the social and economic growth of the country while simultaneously reducing the industry’s carbon footprint and preserving environmental resources for the next generations.”

ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath (right photo): “I thank TCEB and Thailand for the ambition to host the 2023 ICCA Congress. TCEB clearly demonstrated structured planning, support from crucial partners in the region, and offering a beautiful setting for guests to come together. ICCA’s  intent is to both produce a world-class, global event while providing a real-time case study on a redefined ICCA Congress format.

There is no doubt that the ICCA Congress in Bangkok will showcase how business events can contribute to socio-economic development, enhance the intellectuality of the meetings industry, and be prepared for the future. The Congress format will consider both education and shared experiences. I am sure the ICCA delegates will be able to experience memorable Thai hospitality and professionalism.”

About Bangkok

The Kingdom of Thailand’s capital Bangkok, also known by the locals as “Krung Thep Maha Nakhon” (translated to “city of angels” in Thai language), stands ready to support ICCA towards convening a successful, creative, and enjoyable congress in 2023.

This would be the third time for Thailand to host ICCA Congress – and the second time for Bangkok, providing many good reasons to return and witness how far Bangkok has developed. The City of Angels has now transformed into the leading metropolis of Southeast Asia.

Bangkok has extensive expertise in playing host to countless international gatherings, with smart city development, accommodating infrastructure, world-class congress facilities, wide variety of accommodations, and gracious Thai hospitality.

The city had for many years been the most visited city in the world. The dynamism of its society evolution, tourist attractions, and modernization is built upon the foundations of a strong cultural identity and historical heritage. Bangkok has truly become a World City.

In 2032, Bangkok will celebrate its 250th anniversary. To mark this auspicious event, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is implementing “Bangkok Vision” – a 20-year city development strategy in which Bangkok is envisaged to be a centre of knowledge and creativity, while also becoming more convenient, inclusive, and sustainable.

Hosting the prestigious ICCA Congress in 2023 will mark another milestone in “Bangkok Vision”. The Congress is believed to give the city an opportunity to reimagine the future together with ICCA and the global community and leave behind ICCA’s legacies from which local community could greatly benefit.
