Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, Grab collaborates with Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) to donate 500 children’s books as part of the Malaysian region’s Outer Cities Offsite 2024 corporate incentive retreat by Grab Malaysia. This marks Grab Malaysia’s first time hosting a corporate incentive retreat in Sarawak.
The Outer Cities Offsite 2024 brings together 70 Grab employees from Malaysia to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration among team members — many of whom primarily interact virtually. The retreat includes team-building elements, a pickleball workshop, and a friendly match followed by the Kuching City Exploration which takes the team on an adventure through the city’s famed attractions and heritage trails.
In alignment with Grab Malaysia’s commitment to community empowerment, the superapp proudly champions Books Build Legacy, a corporate social responsibility programme by BESarawak.
Books Build Legacy is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme by BESarawak designed to support community development and expand educational opportunities. The programme invites business event planners and delegates to donate books to rural schools in Sarawak, helping to strengthen community connections and create a lasting legacy of knowledge and learning for local children.
Grab is a leading superapp in Southeast Asia, operating across the deliveries, mobility and digital financial services sectors. Serving over 700 cities in eight Southeast Asian countries – Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – Grab enables millions of people everyday to order food or groceries, send packages, hail a ride or taxi, pay for online purchases or access services such as lending and insurance, all through a single app.
Grab was founded in 2012 with the mission to drive Southeast Asia forward by creating economic empowerment for everyone. Grab strives to serve a triple bottom line– we aim to simultaneously deliver financial performance for our shareholders and have a positive social impact, which includes economic empowerment.
“Books Build Legacy has become a powerful partnership programme to bridge the gap between corporate organisations and the local community—especially marginalised communities,” said Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak. “It’s important to recognise that the smallest actions lead to larger outcomes. My team and I are very proud to support the Grab Malaysia Outer Cities Offsite 2024 and their mission of empowering people. We hope that more business event planners are inspired to be part of the change.”
Books Build Legacy represents the business events industry’s commitment to ensuring that corporate meetings and incentives, conventions and exhibitions contribute to positive social impact and community development, thus creating a legacy for future generations
