Palacongressi di Rimini is putting a stop to waste and helping those in need. All the surplus food from meetings, conventions and events held in the centre is donated to local voluntary associations.

As of 2015, the Palacongressi di Rimini has pledged to recover food left over from its events, and to donate it to local charities, thus promoting solidarity and the sharing of vital resources.

Very often indeed, a extensive buffet and the difficulty in determining the exact number of participants lead to an excess production of food which, thanks to Food for Good, can now be recovered to feed those in need, while creating a reduced environmental impact.

Food for Good is promoted and carried out by Federcongressi&eventi, the Food Bank and Equoevento Onlus, a non-profit organisation. From the outset, the Palacongressi di Rimini has been fully committed to this initiative, becoming the pilot venue and then extending the scheme to the entire Italian congress sector from June onwards.

Joining the project at the Palacongressi does not involve any additional cost for the client, and with a simple gesture, many benefits can be obtained on various levels: from the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility to Return of Reputation, from spreading social, economic and environmental responsibility, to promoting an awareness of the importance of respect for nature and for the human effort that goes into making food.

Along with Summertrade chefs, the Rimini Trade Fair catering company and official partner of the Palacongressi, menus are prepared not only to suit the needs of the guests, but also thinking ahead to the conservation and transport of any leftovers. Over 5,600 meals were recovered at the Palacongressi from February to November.

Designed with the utmost respect for the environment, and unique in its technological innovation and versatility, the Palacongressi di Rimini is one of the most elegant and cutting-edge congress centres on the international scene, and the only Wellness Congress Location in Italy. It houses 39 rooms seating from 20 to 4,700 guests for a total capacity of 9,000. The venue also includes an impressive amphitheatre which can accommodate 1,600 and over 11,000 sqm of exhibit space. Thanks to its multifunctional nature, the facility can host events of varying types and sizes simultaneously.

Palacongressi di Rimini is sponsoring the Association Grand Ball, organised by Headquarters Magazine, at Chateau Sainte-Anne in Brussels, on December 17.
