FIEXPO Exhibitions Group will hold its first Workshop & Technical Visit of the year in León, Guanajuato, from 17–20 March 2026, bringing together qualified buyers and meetings industry leaders from across Latin America and international markets.
The initiative is supported by the Secretaría de Turismo e Identidad de Guanajuato (SECTUR), which has identified meetings and events tourism as a strategic pillar for economic development and international positioning. Hosting the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit forms part of a wider policy to attract high-profile events that generate business opportunities and sustained value for the destination.

The four-day programme will combine training sessions, one-to-one business meetings, and technical visits, offering participants direct access to local suppliers and venues while strengthening professional relationships across the meetings industry value chain.
As FIEXPO’s global industry partner, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) will contribute tailored training sessions delivered by its regional director. The content will focus on professional development, destination readiness, and alignment with international standards and market trends.
During the Workshop & Technical Visit, participants will experience León’s meetings infrastructure first-hand, including its hotel capacity, convention and exhibition facilities, non-traditional venues, and cultural and gastronomic offer. The programme also reinforces Guanajuato’s wider positioning as a meetings destination in Mexico, supported by a diversified portfolio of cities and venues across the state.
León plays a central role within that ecosystem. Located in the heart of the Bajío industrial corridor, the city combines strong connectivity with large-scale convention infrastructure, making it well suited to hosting national and international events. Its proximity to destinations such as Guanajuato City, San Miguel de Allende, and Dolores Hidalgo further strengthens the state’s appeal for organisers seeking multi-site or experience-driven programmes.
HQ has previously explored how Guanajuato is aligning its meetings strategy with sustainability, governance, and measurable legacy. In a June 2025 interview, María Guadalupe “Lupita” Robles León, Secretary of Tourism and Identity for the State of Guanajuato, outlined the state’s commitment to halving event-related emissions by 2030 through carbon tracking and offsetting tools.
