The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) looks forward to hosting its renowned Annual Congress at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH).
This landmark event, renowned for advancing global medical innovation, will gather over 7,500 participants from around the world. Since its creation, the EANM Annual Congress has served as a unique forum for medical professionals and industry leaders to exchange pioneering advancements and discuss strategies to enhance patient care in the field of nuclear medicine.
This year, the EANM Annual Congress is dedicated to actively engaging its youngest attendees. Recognising the unique needs of younger participants and the challenges brought by the European healthcare workforce crisis, the EANM has worked hard to develop activities dedicated to the young generation of nuclear medicine professionals.
The successful EANM Young Professionals Lounge, which was reintroduced and enhanced last year, will return for this year’s edition, along with several other features. This dedicated space, tailored for congress participants under 38, serves as more than just a spot to catch up on e-mails between scientific sessions. It is intended to be a vibrant hub for networking, where early-career scientists can expand their professional connections and deepen their knowledge in a comfortable, supportive, and interactive environment.
In addition to this, the EANM launched earlier this year an exciting new initiative: the EANM Next-Gen Programme. This exclusive programme will grant 100 early-career professionals free registration and accommodation for the EANM’24. The selected group of young professionals will benefit from a special programme designed to enrich their congress experience. They will explore the latest advancements in nuclear medicine, discover new industry innovations, and broaden their professional networks, all while receiving comprehensive support throughout their journey at the congress.
Additionally, the EANM and its industry partners have maintained a strong focus on the future of the healthcare sector and addressing future workforce shortages in the medical field across Europe. Tackling this shortage is crucial to ensuring patients have access to life-prolonging treatments.
To achieve this, the EANM has developed a comprehensive approach through its ‘Initiatives in Nuclear Medicine to Support Professional Interest and Recruitment in Europe (INSPIRE)’ programme. INSPIRE by EANM aims to create an integrated framework of activities targeted at students, schools, universities, and other stakeholders to attract talent to nuclear medicine across Europe, thus securing the future of patient care.
Make sure to pass by the INSPIRE by EANM Exhibit, which will be running throughout the duration of the EANM’24 (Exhibition Area on the 2nd floor), to learn more about this pivotal programme.
Beyond the EANM’24, the association has significantly emphasised nurturing the next generation of nuclear medicine professionals and supporting young professionals in the field. On January 1, 2024, the EANM launched the EANM Young Professionals Council (YPC), acknowledging the vital importance of empowering and involving the next generation of nuclear medicine professionals. The YPC strategically advises the EANM Board on engaging young professionals, inspiring them to contribute with their expertise and innovation, and ensuring EANM initiatives resonate with their aspirations and needs.
The EANM is strongly dedicated to shaping the future of the nuclear medicine community and looks forward to welcoming participants to what promises to be a landmark event in Hamburg, Germany, from October 19 to October 23, 2024.
