Congrex Switzerland Expands its Top Management Team

Congrex Switzerland today announced the expansion and strategic reorganisation of its top management team.

As part of this development, Olivia Montanari Bürgin and Silvia Agster have been appointed to the Top Management, which now consists of:

  • Julia Bicher, Chief Executive Officer
  • Sabine Adam, Chief Innovation & Growth Officer
  • Silvano Schär, Chief Commercial Officer
  • Olivia Montanari Bürgin, Chief Key Account Officer
  • Silvia Agster, Chief Operations & Services Officer


Olivia Montanari Bürgin takes over Key Account leadership

To ensure a seamless continuation of Congrex Switzerland’s client-centred approach, Olivia Montanari Bürgin is taking over responsibility for the company’s Key Account Management. She joined Congrex Switzerland in 2005 as a Meeting Planning Consultant and has progressed steadily within the organisation. With her appointment to the top management team, she now steps into the role of Chief Key Account Officer, succeeding Sabine Adam.

In her new position, Olivia Montanari Bürgin will not only lead Key Account Management but will also oversee the heads of Association Management, Meeting Planning, and Abstract and Scientific Programme Management enabling a stronger integration of client strategy, project delivery, and partnership development. Olivia Montanari Bürgin will focus on further developing long-term client relationships and enhancing customised service strategies.

“Julia Bicher (CEO) and I joined Congrex in the same year, starting out in different departments. I still remember our very first meeting together in the Swiss mountains, two complete newcomers with no experience, but full of enthusiasm. Twenty years later, it feels truly special to be working side by side again in the Top Management, leading the company together with our colleagues sharing the same passion for the congress industry. I am excited to step into this new role and the challenges ahead. Together with our heads of department, I look forward to strengthening our processes, working closely with our clients to anticipate their needs, and shaping future strategies,” Olivia Montanari Bürgin said.


New strategic role for Sabine Adam

After many successful years heading the Key Account division, Sabine Adam will take on a newly created position in the top management team. In her new role as Chief Innovation & Growth Officer, she will lead the exploration and cultivation of new markets and oversee the onboarding of new clients. By shifting her focus to these areas, which are crucial for the growth of the company, Sabine will play a central role in shaping the future development of Congrex Switzerland and opening additional opportunities for the company.


Silvia Agster becomes Chief Operations & Services Officer 

Silvia Agster joins the top management team, bringing profound expertise in accommodation management, complex housing logistics, and large-scale service operations. Since joining Congrex in 2008 as an Accommodation Account Manager, she has played a key role in strengthening operational excellence and developing strategic partnerships. As Chief Operations & Services Officer, Silvia will oversee Accommodation Services, with the heads of Registration and Sponsorship & Exhibition reporting to her.

In her new position, she will focus on optimising service delivery, enhancing cross-departmental collaboration, and ensuring seamless operational experiences for clients, partners, and participants as the company continues to grow.
