From 5th to 9th of this month, around 7,000 people attended Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2017, one of the largest private business conventions held in Barcelona. Emerging trends and strategies to be carried out by organizations in terms of digital transformation of their businesses were discussed during these five days. The main annual meeting of the technology sector in EMEA –Europe, the Middle East and Africa – is held at the International Convention Center of Barcelona (CCIB) since 2011 and, year after year, the number of participants is rising.

During these days, the more than 100,000 m2 of the CCIB were complemented by ephemeral spaces –up to 8 tents among them– specially designed for the occasion, which increased the capacity of their facilities to respond to the needs of Gartner. In total, more than 2,700 IT managers and other senior IT executives exchanged ideas and best practices and explored the emerging challenges of digitization.

This was the seventh consecutive edition of Gartner Symposium/ITxpo held at the CCIB, so that the city is consolidating as a benchmark in innovation and digital industry year after year. In addition to this meeting promoted by Gartner, Barcelona hosts some of the most important appointments on the agenda, such as 4YFN, Gamelab or Mobile World Congress. According to Marc Rodríguez, general director of the CCIB, "for our venue the celebration of an event of these characteristics is a great challenge from a technological point of view, and the fact that its leaders renew their confidence in us is proof of the high level of requirement that our teams achieve".
