BMA House Champions Post-conference Networking to Maximise Event Value

BMA House is encouraging event organisers to rethink what happens after the closing session, arguing that some of the most valuable moments of a conference take place once the formal programme has ended.

As hybrid and remote working continue to reshape how often colleagues, association members and professional communities meet face-to-face, the central London venue is seeing growing demand for post-event networking formats that encourage conversation, relationship-building and informal knowledge exchange.

Rather than concluding conferences at the end of the agenda, organisers are increasingly extending the delegate experience with relaxed receptions, wellbeing-focused gatherings and informal social activities designed to foster stronger connections.

"There is a real opportunity for organisers to think differently about the end of a conference or meeting. The formal programme may finish at five, but the value of bringing people together does not have to stop there. In fact, some of the most important conversations often happen once the agenda has ended, when delegates have time to reflect, reconnect and speak more openly," said Hannah Robinson, Venue Manager at BMA House.

Making face-to-face time count

According to the venue, organisations are placing greater emphasis on making the most of the limited opportunities when employees, members and stakeholders gather in person. Beyond content delivery, conferences are increasingly expected to strengthen organisational culture, reinforce communities and create meaningful shared experiences.

"With so many organisations now operating across hybrid or remote teams, in-person events are carrying more weight than ever. They are not just about content delivery, they are about culture, community and connection. Extending the day, even by a couple of hours, can make a significant difference to how people feel about the event and each other," Robinson continued.

To support this shift, BMA House is offering complimentary room hire until 6pm, subject to availability, allowing organisers to incorporate networking receptions or informal gatherings without significantly increasing event costs.

Creating more memorable delegate experiences

Located close to King's Cross, Euston and Russell Square, BMA House enables delegates to remain on site after the conference, avoiding the need to relocate to external venues and helping organisers maintain engagement throughout the day.

The venue's private Courtyard, Garden and historic indoor spaces can accommodate a range of post-conference activities, from drinks receptions and summer networking sessions to courtyard games, low- and no-alcohol socials and informal celebrations.

"We are seeing more organisers ask how they can make their event work harder. They have already invested in bringing people together, so it makes sense to use that time well. A relaxed summer reception, courtyard games or a low and no alcohol social can turn a strong conference into a more memorable, more human experience," Robinson concluded.
