Switzerland Meeting Trophy 2024 took place again last week and celebrated the Belgian team as the record winner of six editions.
The Switzerland Meeting Trophy took place for the 18th time last weekend. 60 international professionals from the meetings sector accepted the invitation from the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau (SCIB), the department of Switzerland Tourism specialising in MICE tourism, to take part in this fun and lively contest.
The MICE experts learnt about Switzerland in a cherfull way at the alpine golf and cheese tasting in Davos (GR), while playing the alpine horn on the Rigi and at a music quiz in Vitznau (LU). The Belgian team performed best overall and won the trophy by a narrow margin ahead of the team from the Netherlands. Third place was shared by two delegations from Germany and France.
Seven national teams from Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, North America and Scandinavia took part in the rally from 13 to 16 June 2024 with the aim of winning the coveted Meeting Trophy.
The inventive summer rally, which is now well established in the MICE industry, took international event and incentive organisation professionals through Switzerland and allowed them to experience the country's tourist attractions first-hand.
The journey started in Zurich on the special train "Red Arrow Churchill" to Landquart (GR). The journey continued on the Rhaetian Railway to Davos (GR). The programme then included the Rigi, Vitznau (LU), Lucerne and Lake Sempach (LU).
The journey through the mountains was interjected with a wide variety of quizzes, puzzle-solving, physical tests and dexterity games. These included alpine golf and cheese in Davos, alpine horn blowing in Rigi and a music Q&A in Vitznau.
The participating nations are important meeting and incentive tourism markets for Switzerland. The various destinations, between cities and mountain villages, as well as the selection of means of transport - from special trains, and mountain railways such as cable cars, cogwheel railways and lake steamers - completely convinced the international experts of Switzerland as a travel and convention destination.
Participants experienced first-hand the diversity of activities and attractions that Switzerland has to offer in the smallest of spaces, all set within an infrastructure of unrivalled quality.
