Associations Forum Brings Australia’s Association Sector to Geelong, Victoria

Over 500 association, not-for-profit professionals and industry suppliers gathered in Geelong this week for the Associations Forum National Conference. Held at the newly opened Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, the conference brought together CEOs, Presidents, industry leaders and decision-makers from across Australia and the region to explore changing member expectations, emerging challenges and new opportunities.
Hosted by Associations Forum, the National Conference program explored key issues including member engagement, leadership, governance, advocacy, event management, education and training, risk management, innovation and the role of technology in improving effectiveness.
Associations Forum General Manager Fatima Sunderji said the conference demonstrated the strength of Australia’s association community and the importance of creating opportunities for leaders to connect and learn from one another.
“The National Conference continues to be an important meeting point for the people who support and lead associations. Bringing people together face-to-face creates the opportunity for new ideas and challenges to be shared openly and practical solutions to be developed through the collective.”
A key theme throughout the conference was the changing expectations of members and ensuring associations remain relevant and responsive.
Delegates explored how they can better understand member needs and adapt their offerings to deliver the greatest value. Additionally, delegates also examined how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies can support more efficient operations.
Networking was another highlight of the event, as attendees built connections with peers from across the sector in between their sessions and through numerous social functions at Crowne Plaza Geelong.
The conference also showcased Geelong (Victoria) as a premier destination for business events, with Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre providing a contemporary setting for learning and collaboration.
With more than 600,000 organisations contributing approximately AUD$43 billion (approx. €26.2 billion) to Australia’s economy, the association and charity sector continues to play a significant role in Australia’s social and economic landscape.
