On March 16, 2026, MEET TAIWAN, the Japan Convention Management Association (JCMA), and the Asia Venue Alliance (AVA) jointly announced the launch of the CSR Day initiative, marking a new milestone in promoting sustainability collaboration among convention and exhibition venues across Asia.

The CSR Day initiative encourages venues throughout Asia to organise simple yet meaningful sustainability and community engagement activities on May 15, 2026. These could range from offering incentives for visitors who bring reusable cups to hosting small community performances, translating sustainability commitments into visible, impactful actions within both venues and local communities. The organisers also invite additional venues to join the initiative and help build a platform for sustainable collaboration across the region.

To support this effort, the “Sustainability Venue Collaboration Meeting” was held on the same day, bringing together convention and exhibition venues from Taiwan and Japan to exchange practical strategies for sustainable venue management and net-zero development.

During the meeting, venues shared real-world experiences in energy efficiency, waste management, and innovative solutions, showcasing creative approaches to resource management and environmental responsibility. Participating venues included ICC Tainan, Pacifico Yokohama, Taipei International Convention Center, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, and Osaka International Convention Center.

The Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) and several AVA member venues also joined online, including Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, and Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center. With participation from across the region, the organisers hope to expand CSR Day into a sustained platform for dialogue and collaboration on sustainability among Asian convention and exhibition venues.

Through continued knowledge sharing and cooperation, venues can learn from each other and work together toward a more sustainable, net-zero future for the business events industry.
