Asia Carbon Conference 2025 returns for another year in Kuching, marking the destination's commitment to balancing economic growth and environmental stewardship through a green economy. ACC 2025 is organised by Argus Media and hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak.
The highly anticipated Asia Carbon Conference 2025 is set to take place from 29 to 30 May 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability advocates to discuss the latest trends, policies, and solutions in carbon management and climate action.
The conference is expected to attract 400 delegates from across the region and will be officiated by The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak who will also deliver his keynote speech.
"Sarawak is deeply committed to achieving a sustainable, low-carbon economy while ensuring balanced economic growth and environmental stewardship. Through our Sarawak Post-2030 Development Strategy, we have identified sustainability as a core pillar in transforming our economy into one that is resilient, green, and inclusive. To support this transition, Sarawak has embarked on ambitious initiatives such as carbon trading, nature-based solutions, hydrogen economy development, and large- scale renewable energy projects.
"We aim to position Sarawak as a leader in carbon management and clean energy solutions, contributing to both national and global decarbonisation efforts. The Asia Carbon Conference provides an essential platform to discuss carbon pricing, carbon capture and storage (CCS), nature-based solutions, policy frameworks, and investment opportunities. The role of carbon markets is critical in accelerating emissions reduction, and Sarawak is keen to explore innovative mechanisms that promote sustainable business practices while unlocking economic potential," said YB Datuk Dr Haji Hazland Abang Haji Hipni (below), Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability of the Sarawak Government.
This premier conference will serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, featuring speakers primarily from Singapore, India, Australia, and the European Union (EU), addressing key topics such as carbon markets, net-zero strategies, sustainable energy transitions, and corporate climate responsibility. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with global experts, participate in panel discussions, and explore innovative technologies shaping the future of carbon management in Asia and beyond.
"Climate change is the defining crisis of this century. Since the Paris Agreement and the Kyoto Protocol, we have made significant progress in building the foundation to stem rising global temperatures. It has never been a smooth journey, our objectives have met with headwinds on many fronts, especially today, so it is ever more imperative that we have champions like Sarawak that remain steadfast and committed to the cause.
"With Sarawak's rich natural resources and abundant renewable Energy, and more importantly, the visionary leadership of the state, puts Sarawak at the forefront of energy transition in ASEAN. It is only fitting that the Asia Carbon Conference be held in Kuching, providing a regional forum for much-needed collaboration, thought leadership and action," said Steve Tan, Vice President of Business Development at Argus Media.
A key highlight of the conference will be the VIP Government Fireside Chat, featuring discussions on creating an integrated ASEAN marketplace for carbon and renewable energy potential in Asia. This session will provide invaluable insights from government leaders and industry experts on the evolving landscape of carbon markets and regulatory frameworks in the region.
