Ultrasound specialists and dam building experts choose Vienna
The Vienna Convention Bureau (VCB), the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) and Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center have attracted two international conferences – each with around 2,000 participants – to the nation’s capital: the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress will take place at the ACV from September 15-22, 2017, and the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) World Congress will play out at the Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center from July 1-7, 2018.
Each year, the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) brings its World Congress to a different leading global city and is joined by over 2,000 obstetricians, gynaecologists, sonographers, midwives, radiographers and other interested health care professionals from 90 different countries. This prestigious event will take place in Vienna for the first time in 2017. World renowned experts in the various ultrasound fields talk on their specialist topics, researchers introduce their latest findings, interesting and complex cases are presented and discussed, trainers run hands-on workshops, special-interest groups meet and much more – including a one day course for those new to ultrasound. The Vienna Convention Bureau worked closely with Austrian experts Prof. Christoph Brezinka from the University Clinic of Gynaecological Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine in Innsbruck and Prof. Dr. Daniela Prayer from the Medical University of Vienna, applying to host this prestigious international meeting twice before being finally selected.
New approaches to hydroelectricity and water supply
Held every three years, the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) World Congress will be hosted by the Austrian National Commission on Large Dams (ATCOLD) in Vienna in 2018. The congress brings together experts working at companies, universities and government authorities who are involved in the construction and operation of dams and reservoirs for renewable energy production, water supply or flood protection projects. The expert discussions are designed to deepen practical and scientific understanding across the various disciplines. The congress is supplemented by a trade fair showcasing materials, as well as control, measurement and monitoring equipment for the water and hydroelectric industries. The World Congress was last held in Vienna in 1991. Parallel to the 26th ICOLD World Congress, the 86th ICOLD Annual Meeting and the ATCOLD Symposium Hydro Engineering will also take place at the Austria Center Vienna.
