The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) announced that this year’s Cineposium conference will be held September 13-16 in Saint Petersburg, Russia – concurrent with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly Meeting.

The annual Cineposium conference connects AFCI member film commissioners with production industry partners and policymakers worldwide, including representatives from Marvel Studios, The Walt Disney Studios, Netflix, HBO, Lionsgate, Warner Brothers, Youtube, etc.

The event allows professional specialists of film industry from all over the world to come together, to discuss the vector of industry development and to agree on further cooperation. The program includes various educational sections and workshops.

A bid to host the 43th edition of the Cineposium was submitted by the Russian Office of Film Commissions, in collaboration with Saint-Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development and its subordinate organization Saint Petersburg Convention Bureau. The decision was made by 8 members of the AFCI board, including representatives of various national cinema commissions.

This will be the first time for Russia to host the conference. Over the past decade, Cineposium has been held in the United States, France, New Zealand, Spain, and South Korea.

Eygeny Pankevich, chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of Saint Petersburg, noted, “Saint Petersburg is the birthplace of Russian cinema, so it is a great honor for our city to host AFCI’s first Cineposium in Russia. Hosting the conference here will bring lasting value and new perspectives to everyone involved."

The Cineposium 2019 schedule includes the core Cineposium conference, the 3rd Business-to-Business Industry Day and a Saint Petersburg cultural and production industry tour. Initial sessions and speakers will be announced soon.
