The Adelaide Convention Bureau, off the back of winning the IAC which was delivered in 2017 and the announcement that Adelaide will indeed be the home of Australia’s Space Agency, has directly targeted Business Events that fit the genre with a win already on the books and many more in the pipeline.

The Bureau is pleased to announce the 19th Australian Space Research Conference (ASRC), will be hosted by Adelaide this coming September.

Event organisers enjoyed a ‘taste of Adelaide’ when they attended the Bureau’s annual Destination South Australia showcase event in 2018 and were obviously impressed by what they saw. The visit coupled with a comprehensive and solid bid presentation has seen South Australia take a step forward in being positioned globally as a ‘must-see’ destination for Space, Defence and Innovation related business events.

This will be the thirteenth ASRC which is jointly sponsored and organised by the National Committee for Space and Radio Science (NCSRS) and the National Space Society of Australia (NSSA), with the support of the Mars Society of Australia (MSA). The September 30 – October 2, 2019 conference will be held in conjunction with the South Australia Space Forum, convened by the South Australian Space Industry Centre.

Both fundamental and applied research that applies to space science, engineering and technologies will be discussed at the conference which is intended as the primary annual meeting for Australian researchers relating to space science and technology. It will bring space scientists, engineers, educators, and workers in industry, Government and NGOs to Adelaide.

In alignment with the South Australian Government’s key pillars, the Adelaide Convention Bureau will continue to focus on bringing Business Events within the space and defence genre to South Australia and represented the state on the world stage in Frankfurt at IMEX, the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events during the week of 20 May.

Adelaide Convention Bureau CEO, Damien Kitto, said: "This is the one of many business events within the space and defence category that the Bureau will bring to South Australia in the years to come. The legacies of these events, as was the legacy of the IAC, will continue to provide opportunities for innovation, investment and trade to South Australia. With State Government’s commitment and development of the Innovation Hub at Lot Fourteen, we look forward to promoting this exciting genre to the world as we have and will continue to do successfully within the Health Sciences arena off the back of the BioMed City development."
