Russia is Open to the World

Russia was represented for the first time at IBTM World trade show by the Collective Stand RUSSIA OPEN TO THE WORLD, organized by the Russian Convention Bureau Association together with the Russian Export Center.

«IBTM is the great communication space for the multi-billion world market of the event services. Finally Russia takes active part, – shared his view the national booth’s guest  Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev. –Perhaps this is the first collective experience for attraction international events to Russia. I’m sure that this experience will be useful and super successful».

The purpose of organizing the Russian Collective Stand was to promote the regions of Russia on the foreign market, to attract new congress and exhibition events to the country and to create a national brand of Russia as a favorable place for any level of difficulty events.

During these 3 days of the exhibition’s work national exposition’s organizers had provided its participants the opportunity to demonstrate their tourists and event potential to the leaders of international MICE community, professional buyers and visitors.Started working from the 28 November 14 participants of the booth RUSSIA OPEN TO THE WORLD from Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Krasnodar Krai, Sverdlovsk, Tula and Kaliningrad had held more than 600 business meetings, providing the Business with the wide opportunities for promotion in Russia regions.

The highlights of the first day of the RUSSIA OPEN TO THE WORLD stand work were the presentations of the event potentials of the following cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Tula; round table on topic «Tendencies in meetings industry development in Russia: ways of cooperation» devoted to the Russian trends of the congress and MICE industry’s development.

The day two was marked with a successful presentation of the current tourism potential of the 11 World Cup host cities during a road show «Road to the World Cup 2018», where the participants not only spoke about the preparations for the event in Russian cities, but also presented the special conditions of participation for the fans. The discussion's participants included Nikolay Korolev, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation; Marlene Rodriguez, Head of the VISIT RUSSIA national tourist office in Spain; Aleksey Petrov, First Deputy CEO of the Transport Directorate of the FIFA 2018 Organising Committee; Eduard Latypov, President of the Fan Club of Russian National Football team. MICE professionals of the large Russian and foreign companies, numerous football fans, mass media as well also took part in the presentation.

On the closing day of IBTM the signing ceremony of Agreements for cooperation was held between the guests of the national stand the R&C Market Research Company and Bashkortostan Convention Bureau. The third day was finished by the drawing lottery of the Gift certificate for the stay at Korston Club Hotel Kazan by the Convention Bureau of the Republic of Tatarstan and Korston.Elena Zayzeva, manager of the Park Hotel Grumant, Tula, Russia was the lucky winner of the Certificate.

Within 3 days national Russian exposition had become one of the most visited booth at the international IBTM  trade show.  IBTM organizers commended its work  and mentioned that the number of meetings hold by the Russian participants with international buyers was one of the highest at the exhibition. 

«It was a huge interest to our Booth. More than 600 meetings were held with the participation of Russian regions, national exposition’s co-exponents. Upwards of100 negotiations were held by the Russian Convention Bureau Association, launched in November, 2017.  More than2000 companies, international events’ planners,international buyers, world Convention bureaus have impressed their interest to the Russian National booth work» – summarized the National Congress Bureau Association Director Alexei Kalachev.

Russian Congress Bureau Association is planning to continue effective cooperation with the regional Convention Bureaus and repeat mutual successful work at IBTM and other international industry trade shows in the future.  The national booth co-exponents were satisfied with the results of their joint work and expressed their intention to participate in such projects within the collective exposition.

It’s to remind that in 2017 the international exhibition IBTM World was held at the 30 anniversary time. The main themes of the exhibition are the organization of business events, conferences, seminars, corporate tourism and business meetings.In 2017, almost 15000 delegates and about 3460 buyers visited IBTM, 3000 exponents from 150 countries took part in and over 74000 scheduled meetings were organized over the three days of the exhibition.
