The Meetings Industry Association’s (mia) Agents’ Day events have secured Silver at the Association Excellence Awards 2018.
The mia’s highly successful networking event was commended in the ‘Best Membership Initiative’ category of the awards that recognise the achievements of both individuals and teams working for UK trade bodies, professional membership organisations and associations.
Judges were particularly impressed how, building on one of the association’s core aims of offering a tangible return on membership, the mia identified its members’ need to have greater access to booking agents and creatively developed an innovative networking event to bring both parties together for mutual benefit.
The clever and ever-evolving format seamlessly blends an insightful panel debate where the mutual challenges and best practice are discussed in a fun and relaxed environment – developing cohesive relationships for the future.
Competing amongst a shortlist of eight leading associations including the Research Quality Association and the Association of British HealthTech Industries, the mia claimed silver behind the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, who secured the category’s gold accolade.
Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia, said: “We are absolutely thrilled the mia’s Agents’ Day events have scooped Silver at the Association Excellence Awards. We already know from the positive feedback that these events are meeting our members’ needs and assisting them in growing their businesses, so it’s fantastic to have our initiative recognised by our industry peers.”
The winners were announced at a ceremony held on Friday, 12 October at Kia Oval, London.
