This year’s annual meeting of ICCA’s Iberian Chapter will take place from the 19th to 21st of April 2023 in the beautiful city of Evora, in Portugal’s Alentejo region.

It will be the first time ever that ICCA organises a joint meeting including the Iberian Chapter & Mediterranean Chapter, which will bring additional opportunities for networking and sharing knowledge and experiences.

Included in the programme of the meeting will be a student session on the 19th with Legacy as the main theme. A selection of companies from the Portuguese sector will be present to learn more about the MICE sector and learn how best to promote their destinations, products and services.

This meeting will be Christoph Tessmar's last as President, after four years leading the Iberian Chapter.

During the General Assembly on Friday 21st, there will be elections for the Executive Committee and it is expected that Jorge Vinha da Silva, CEO of the Lisbon venue, Altice Arena, (pictured on the right) will be the successor as President of the ICCA Iberian Chapter if elected.

About the ICCA Iberian Chapter

The ICCA Iberian Chapter was created in the early 90s after years participating amongst other colleagues in the Mediterranean Chapter.

All Spanish and Portuguese ICCA Members at that time thought that joining forces to create an Iberian Chapter would attract to both countries new business opportunities.

Attracting new congresses and events to Spain and Portugal has been the aim of the Chapter since then. Moreover, the need to create win-win situations and the great offer both countries present, makes the Iberian Peninsula and its islands one of the most attractive locations in Europe for congresses.

After many years, new hotels, Convention Centres, PCOs, Convention Bureaus, Agencies and Companies from the travel Industry have become new members of ICCA, and therefore the Chapter has grown as well.

The Chapter is organised and represented by a Chairperson and a Executive Committee that handle marketing and sales tools. Every two years the Chair alternates between both countries.
