After an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the purpose-built Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre(the Centre), the attendees enjoyed the soothing sounds of gamelan (traditional Malay orchestra) before trying their hand at some of Malaysia’s rich traditional arts and craft. Besides the gamelan, batik and henna painting, and Chinese calligraphy, were laid on for the visitors to experience.

“The annual ICCA Congress provided the perfect opportunity for us to showcase Malaysia’s growing business events proposition by inviting the trade media, meeting planners, venues and convention bureaus from around the world to enjoy our interactive and experiential facility tour and share in knowledge exchange.

“It was excellent to see such a great response, with venues and bureaus from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Tanzania, Germany, Abu Dhabi and United Kingdom attending the site visits,” explained Alan Pryor, the Centre’s General Manager.

Alan continued, “We hope the participants enjoyed the experience and gained insights into both Malaysia as a destination and into our offerings as a venue, particularly our differentiated propositions in product innovation and culinary excellence. The visit had the added benefit of allowing our team to share and discuss best practices and industry trends with global meeting professionals and the learnings will surely benefit our clients.”

Praising the Centre’s efforts in hosting the site visits,Stephen Lewis, Publisher, CAT Publications, said“You (the Centre) clearly have a highly motivated team at KLCC and the smiling ‘can-do’ enthusiastic attitude will clearly impress international convention planners who make destination and venue choices for their events.”
