Conferences and exhibitions demand everything from concept to logistics to on-site support. Square footage is rarely the problem; there is still plenty of space out there. However, the impact does not come solely from square metres. What really matters is the context: a fruitful and functional environment that can generate networking opportunities where meetings can take place. After all, when people come together, it is not just about time and space. It is about what can emerge from it.

Hamburg's largest event campus sees itself as exactly that: an enabler. Right in the heart of the city, the CCH – Congress Center Hamburg, the Hamburg Exhibition Grounds and the Planten un Blomen park come together to form an urban ensemble that offers much more than just an event space, providing a unique setting for ideas to flow and projects to take shape. For events that seek to spark ideas; for formats that thrive on exchange; for people who are always moving forward.

The CCH is the centrepiece of this campus. Following a comprehensive refurbishment, it is now one of Europe's most modern convention centres: flexible in room design, cutting-edge in technology, and efficient in operations. But again, that alone does not make the difference.

The direct connection between the convention centre, exhibition halls and urban surroundings offers a compact, all-inclusive feature that elsewhere requires long distances. Here, synergies spring up while walking. And as meetings take place during breaks, exchanges flow between sessions, industries and people.

Connecting Industry, Science and Events in One Place

Plus, we haven't even touched on what makes Hamburg truly special: a city that bridges business, science and culture. The short distances between the venue and the city are more than just convenient; they create access to strong clusters in life sciences, logistics, aviation and digitalisation, as well as internationally renowned research institutions, companies and innovative minds.

Indeed, Hamburg not only offers space for events, but also connections that extend their impact far beyond the day of the event.

This can be seen from the geographical coordinates themselves: the CCH’s location, right next to the Dammtor long-distance railway station, guarantees access straight from the gate. Likewise, hotels, restaurants and cultural offerings are also within walking distance. For attendees, the event becomes part of a broader urban experience, rather than just an isolated obligation. For organisers, the campus offers more than just rooms and technology: it enables formats that drive content, promote exchange and amplify impact.

The Hamburg Messe und Congress Event Campus redefines the concept of ‘venue’. Not as a closed-off space, but as an open framework; going beyond a mere surface, but proposing new possibilities. The idea is simple, yet powerful: if you want to create impact, you need the right context. Space alone is not enough.

Sustainability at the Helm of Business

The fact that the campus lives up to this promise is also reflected in its services: a single point of contact coordinates all trades, simplifies processes and thinks ahead. From planning to execution, to communication. Flexible, transparent and collaborative.

Whether for international associations, scientific congresses, medical conventions or corporate events, the campus offers spaces that enable formats – rather than limiting them. As well as solutions that reduce effort rather than increase it.

Additionally, sustainability is not an afterthought, but a guiding principle. The CCH has been certified according to the highest standards of sustainable construction. It is the first, and thus far, the only existing German convention centre to earn Gold certification in the Revitalisation category from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) – the highest DGNB sustainability certification level awarded to an existing convention building to date. But beyond architecture, sustainability is lived through short distances, resource-saving solutions and collaboration with local partners.

This is how a place becomes more than just a place; a building becomes more than just a space; and an event becomes more than just a scheduled appointment. Hamburg Messe und Congress shows how it's done: if you want impact, you need context... and a venue that understands all the aspects that contribute to it.
