High profile speakers including former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia Kim Beazley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key and Treasurer of Queensland Curtis Pitt will weigh in on the federal budget, which is released tonight.

The PwC Federal Budget Breakfast is the largest breakfast event held at the Royal ICC each year, taking around 6,000 eggs, 2,000 rashers of bacon, 700 avocados, 25 kilograms of feta cheese and 100 loaves of brioche bread to feed almost 1,900 people.

Brisbane Showgrounds General Manager of Venue Sales and Marketing Jago Coyle said this was the fifth year the breakfast had been held at the world-class venue.

We’ve been hosting this highly regarded event since 2013 which is a real testament to our stunning venue and five star service and we’re pleased to welcome it back again this year,” he said.

The federal budget breakfast comes during our busiest May on record in terms of event numbers, with more than 75,000 people making their way to the Showgrounds this month for 46 events.”

This weekend will be a bumper few days for the Showgrounds with five events being staged. ROC (Ridiculous Obstacle Course) Race on Saturday and the International Cake Show held over three days from Friday to Sunday will draw a combined crowd of more than 12,000 people alone.

The 22 hectare Brisbane Showgrounds precinct is located just 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD and is Queensland’s largest indoor / outdoor events site.
