Beam, the company that operates five event venues in Bordeaux (Southwestern France and capital of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region) has experienced a significant increase in the number of events held at their locations. In 2022, the company organised 287 events, which is a significant increase of 25% compared to the previous year (2021), when only 228 events were held. Compared to the pandemic year of 2020, when only 122 events took place, this marks a remarkable increase of 235%.

Despite strict restrictions in January and February of 2022, the company's numbers were almost as high as the 288 events held in 2019, the year before the pandemic. Additionally, the company has already signed over 200 event contracts for 2023, confirming its success and the growing popularity of Bordeaux as a preferred destination for conferences, exhibitions, and other business events.

Why Bordeaux is the perfect place to organise events

The reasons behind Bordeaux's remarkable success as a destination for organising business events and incentives are indeed compelling.

Firstly, the city boasts fabulous infrastructure for hosting such occasions. Beam alone operates five venues, which can stage conferences, exhibitions and other business events catering to groups ranging from 100 to an astounding 6,000 delegates. These venues are situated throughout the city, from the inner core to next to the Garonne and the convention & exhibition area in the Bordeaux Lac business district. All these locations are surrounded by a diverse array of hotels, ranging from budget to luxury accommodations.

Secondly, Bordeaux boasts excellent transportation links, including an international airport located in Mérignac, which is less than half an hour from the city centre, as well as a high-speed train station that connects to major European cities.

Thirdly, the South-West of France is a region that emanates a 'human touch'. With the largest UNESCO-listed urban area in Bordeaux, the region boasts numerous historic landmarks and attractions that offer a unique and picturesque backdrop for events. The region values tradition, authenticity, and quality of life, and is renowned for its beautiful countryside along the Garonne, charming villages, and exceptional wine and culinary offerings, making it an ideal location for networking and entertaining clients.

"I am proud to say that Beam has established itself as a prominent player in the international event industry and has successfully bounced back from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our hard work paid off in 2022, resulting in a successful year, and we plan to maintain this positive momentum going forward. In 2023, our goal is to continue our international expansion and welcome larger-scale events. We also aim to expand our range of offerings to include shows, festivals, and unconventional events. Throughout all our endeavors, we are committed to creating a positive social, economic, and, very important, environmental impact.” says Stéphane Kintzig, Managing Director of BEAM.

2023: A strong focus on sustainability

In 2022, Bordeaux ranked 5th on the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS Index). The year before, the "Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole" was awarded the ISO 20121 certification, confirming its dedication to environmentally sustainable management practices. BEAM, which is also ISO 20121 certified, aims to follow the example of Bordeaux and strengthen its commitment to responsible event management, contributing to the city's international promotion.

BEAM, much more than a site operator

Their commitment to delivering exceptional experiences has led them to provide a diverse range of services and expertise. Beyond the five venues they manage, the organisations offers comprehensive event planning and logistics services, taking care of every detail, from vendor coordination to attendee accommodations, ensuring that events run seamlessly and successfully.
