The European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB) is delighted to be staging its traditional annual meeting as an in-person event again for the first time after the break due to the covid pandemic.

The meeting is being held from 4 to 7 October 2023 at Messe and Congress Center Basel. Some 900 participants from different European countries are expected to attend, all of whom are radiologists, radiology specialists, physicists, physicians, scientists, engineers or students in the field of radiology or magnetic resonance.

All those who come can look forward to a varied programme of plenary sessions, educational lectures and presentations of scientific abstracts that span their entire field. State-of-the-art meeting formats, including roundtable discussions and exciting hot-topic debates, guarantee conversations that will be of particular interest to the community.

The following three focal topics have been selected by the organisers: “The Value of the Number”, “The MRI Ecosystem” and “Frontiers in Molecular MR”. Participants will also benefit from poster sessions with printed posters, an industry exhibition and a range of networking opportunities.

The ESMRMB Annual Meeting is held in a different European destination each year. The fact that the choice fell on Basel this time is due to the city’s unique location at the point where three countries meet – ensuring good links to rail and road networks and air transport – as well as to Basel’s humanistic tradition in which history, culture and science have always played a decisive role. In addition, the city not only boasts countless museums and sights but is also home to Switzerland’s oldest university and a number of eminent companies specialised in biotechnology and pharmacy.

“As a key location for research and industry, the Basel region naturally provides a conducive atmosphere for our delegates”, says Professor Eva Scheurer, Head of the Basel Institute of Forensic Medicine, who is responsible for local issues arising during the organisation of the event. And Jonas Scharf, Deputy Head of MCH Exhibitions & Events, is delighted to be hosting the ESMRMB Annual Meeting. “Events of such renown help us to further consolidate our reputation as a place of knowledge and innovation.”
