    2017-2018, I am Happy!

    Summary:
In this year’s last edition, we discuss something we certainly know a few things about: Competition. In 2017, many things have changed in my life that, in the end, have made me so happy. A lot has changed in my company and publications; the company has become younger, happier and more creative.

    Tour Operators and MICE

    Summary:
During a familiarisation trip in August to the poetically green Hangzhou in China, I met the Director of MICE for TUI China Travel Co. Ltd, Mr. Xiang Weng, an inspiring and very cheerful person. He told me about the power of the German Travel Company TUI around the world, which also has a department actively involved in the organisation of conferences in China.

    Back to school

    Summary:
I’ll be 72 next year and I am planning on going back to school. I have actually already made up my mind. Why on earth would I want to go back to school, you may wonder? Well, I have two good reasons. Number one: what better way to rekindle the fire and keep your mind and spirit in shape than through closer contact with the younger generations.

    A Fund for Emerging Countries

    Summary:
I have just returned from the European Cities Marketing (ECM) International Conference & General Assembly 2017, held in the inspiring city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. As the city was absolutely teeming with tourists the organisers had obviously made the perfect choice. I continue to have questions about how convention bureaus should position themselves in this context.

    Technology: Long live magazine.live!

    Summary:
Digital has a magical ring to it but that’s all because it’s not really convenient to read. One tended to think that it was enough to put a PDF of a magazine online. I hope you can forgive me that I have done the very same thing in the past! But it is not easy to read, it tends to get boring rather rapidly and it’s far from reader friendly.

    Rejuvenate and Strengthen

    Summary:
I have an enthusiastic story to share with you. I enjoy working with talented young people. I admire their enthusiasm and their laidback style of communication. I am hugely inspired and motivated by young professionals and I like to think that I can do the same for them. Combining fresh ideas and the power to break the waves with experience and familiarity in my opinion provides an excellent basis for achieving great plans. This combination energises teams, fostering job satisfaction and inventiveness while also providing a solid foundation for the company.
